Is 8am too early to start mowing?

I have my plan and prepped the yard last night(picked up sticks, rocks, etc.).

It was getting dark so I planned to do the yard this morning so that it will look good for the long weekend.

We live in a small town, several blocks in from the main road.

Would it be rude to start the power tools up at 8am on a Saturday?

Our deed restrictions say 9am, but if I hear someone else mowing, then I'm out there too.

If you were my neighbor, I'd shoot your lawnmower...

Is the grass dry? If so - fire it up!
Anybody needing that much sleep shouldnt be bothered by a mower.

Some of us feel that 8am is too early for just about anything.

I wouldn't mow before noon.

But that's just cuz I don't like getting out of bed before noon...

But if my neighbor started mowing at 7 or 8 and woke me up. Well his mower might just have a new drain in the crankcase...

I agree 8am is marginal. I rarely get to sleep that late (LOL) anymore but when I do, it's usually Saturday and I'm dead-a$$ tired and mowers and blowers are not my preferred method of being awakened.

I've been trying to figure-out how the trash trucks get away with coming at 6-6:30am these days, waking up the whole friggen neighborhood.

I'd wait until 9. For the record, I always mow on Thursday evenings; that way I always can enjoy my yard on the weekends.

I'm always up by 5, usually earlier.
but I understand that others are not.
Some folks like to sleep in a little on weekends.
You could mow at 8:00am, but it would probably result in someone thinking that you are a horse's rear. I wouldn't mow that early.

Unless you live in a very hot area, 10am is plenty early for power tools.

8am is way too early IMO.

They fired up a concrete saw to cut our driveways this morning at 9 AM in the continuing road/curb/sidewalk work. That was early enough.

I had a neighbor who used to party late into the night. It was LOUD. Every time he did that I would fire up my motorcycle the next morning at 0600. Right outside his bedroom window. It had straight pipes. He would stick his head out the window, curse like hell, then laugh. It became a joke.

Bob: "I'm having another party tonight!"

Me: "OK. I'll gas up the bike."

Bob: (laughing) "F-you!"

Me: "See you in the morning."

I started mowing at 8 and thought, is this too early? Then I come in for a break and see this.

I'm surprised to read so many responses that agree with my own sensibilities. I think 8am is fine, and I'm NOT a "morning person." I just expected most people to say that 8am would be more than late enough to start. Maybe I need to move west.

Here in the midwest, well, St. Louis is an EARLY, EARLY town. If it were not so frowned upon, there would be people mowing at 6am all the time, and not just because of the summer heat.

It's much better for the grass to cut it late in the day and let dew coat the fresh cuts than to have them burn in the sun. FWIW.

I usually do this as well but we had stuff going on that night so I couldn't.

BTW-I flipped the tv on at 8 and found BBQ University had 2 episodes back to back so I didn't get to the yard until after 9.

I did the full boogie treatment today so it will look tidy for several days. I even re-hung my swingin' chair in the big oak tree.

Plus, I decided that the mailbox needed re-freshing so I primered that for paint later.

If I do mow on Sundays I always wait until at least 10 am.

That's a good tip, Denis. I've never heard that before except for when to water.
