Looks nice. Why wood, though, that close to the earth. Code here requires 18" to bottom of joists.

Here pressure treated is OK for ground contact.

Chose wood to match the pre-existing wood that is above it and attached to the main house.

So what is it?

It will be a deck/tiki bar. Just needed to fill in the space.

Leave a hole in it to pour your used motor oil into, that'll take care of any subterranean termites ;)

Tiki Bar under stairs...

Sadly the amount I will use this bar is minute! It's an odd space and we just needed something to fill the space.

First thing I thought, construction in Houston and August is a bad combination. My folks came out to visit us on Lake Conroe in August once. Brought the golf clubs, told me they got a great tee time, 1230, and I told them they cold have walkd on and got that. That evening, Mom told me it was too hot after on hole, she sat in the cart and put the wet towels from the little ice chest I loaned them on her head and neck. Dad played on. I asked what he shot, and he said he did not play a full 18, worried about his bride of course. How did you do on the front nine? Well I am not sure....

Turns out, he played the second hole, hit off the third tee, said, "The heck with this" left the ball laying and went to the clubhouse.

Drink lots of gatorade on your job, I am just sayin'

Don't forget the little ceiling fan inside the tiki hut.

I think it's finally getting cooler, atleast in my mind.

I hate to say this, but, no joist hangers? I thought those were code nowadays.
Mabye put a bench around the base of that tree so someone doesn't break an ankle.
