Ducati Paso 750

I like the looks. What do you Duc guys think about this bike? The one I'm looking at is pretty reasonable.

Why not buy a 900 SS? They're damn reliable for a Duc and the styling is better IMO. you can get a 750ss for cheap or a 900ss for less than $3500. I tried to sell my 1993 900 SS with 8600 mile on it for months but now one would bite at $4500. No I see them for that or $1000 less. Mine has spendy parts on it, but no. No takers. So I just kept it. I'm glad I did.

Good feedback. Keep in mind that Duc's aren't too common here. Also....let's put it this way:

If the bike was $1500, and was an 8.5/10, would you consider it?

Also, any mechanical issues that are common with these?

I have a soft spot for the 80's/'90s "plastic everywhere" look, and I'm sure you could have a lot of fun with that bike, unless there's something wrong you don't know about. I imagine parts availability is tough.

I would hold out for a 750ss for another $1000. Just because Ducs are not common in your area doesn't me you have to settle.

Having said that, I'm not familiar with the Paso. I do recall drooling over one in the 80s, but I don't see many Pasos around, meaning more expensive to repair for lack of more available parts. I'd probably by a Suki TL1000 or a SV before I buy a Paso.

Had a yellow Paso for years. Great looking bike and reliable.

Nothing really wrong with them, per se, but they're generally unloved-all that plastic has to come off for service, pretty basic suspension...but that said, they're ok bikes. I'd personally spend a grand or two more for a 900ss.

$1500 for one of those seems like a good price if the condition is 8.5/10 like you say.

I think the Paso had 16" wheels which means you will have severely limited tire choices. I seem to recall that's a major complaint with those models

Just did a bunch of research...I'll check it out, but I'm realizing the issues with this thing.

I'll keep an open mind.

IIRC the Paso had FI, compared to the carb'd SS bikes everyone else is recommending. Not saying that's necessarily better. It was one of Ducati's first forays into FI for street bikes. And it's increasingly hard to find replacement ECUs. But there is a technological difference between the models. And, like Gogar said, you have to like the plastic everywhere look.

Personally, I'd go for a mid-90s 900SS.

Ducatis are like Porsches - they all have issues. And some guys will say, "nightmare" and others will say, "I've only changed the oil, no problems." It's Italian. In some cases the bikes are more Italian than others...
