i was watching a television show where a grown man, at least 30 YO, kisses his mother on the lips. does anyone else think that is wrong/gross?

FWIW, i would NEVER kiss my mother on the lips.

Are we talking about a quick peck when saying hello or goodbye? I don't see the big deal.

My mother would never do that, but my dad kisses us right on the lips. I think he only started that a few years ago; I don't remember him doing that when I was a kid, but maybe I just don't remember. Either way, it doesn't phase me, my brothers or any of our wives (who he kisses on the lips too).

just sayin', now that i am over 20 (i am 40), either of my parents, in fact anyone but my wife, kissing me on the lips is just right out. but my mom (dad!?!?), that is just wrong.

either way, I don't get worked up over stuff like that. Different strokes, etc. In some cultures male friends walk hand in hand walking around in public, and male relatives kiss on the lips. whatever, it depends what you're used to I guess.

Social norms are always in flux, and what's normal to some is whacked out to others. Used to be common at pools etc for everyone to be naked in the showers. That creeps me right out, but I can remember when I was a kid it was still pretty common (but still creepy)
