Eh. I don't think Toyota has the cache to pull this off. I think they might be able support a very low volume $100k car, but not this. They have to build to this level. I'm not a Lexus fan. There's not a single car they've built that hasn't been highly derivative of something else. The whole brand has always been about copying and building cheaper, not innovating. The LFA looks to be a total ripoff of Nissan's signature look. It's a copy of the lines from the Skyline/GTR/350Z/370Z, with some "mean" aero bits thrown in.

It does look great but... Way too much money. What's a new Ferrari in the US worth?

I think a new F430 runs about $160k, so this Lexus would be DOUBLE the price of an F430. It's more than what the new McLaren is going to cost, and I expect the McLaren to blow the doors off of everything currently in production.

I would buy it as long as the car has a history of a sticking gas pedal. It would give me an excuse for the police when pulled over. Speedy

As I've gotten older, these unobtania seem to interest me less. I don't mean that from a sour grapes perspective. These cars rock. But as I've realized how financially impossible it will ever be for me to buy a supercar (or even a new 911), they don't seem to excite me at all. They're not dream cars, as I don't dream of owning them. That being said, it's hard to imagine a Lexus--no matter how superfantastic--going for double what a Ferrari would. I'd think the vast majority of the superrich (unless they're Asian) would prefer the cache of a Ferrari over that of any Japanese car.

I was lost for Toyota when Denso (formerly Nippondenso, a huge supplier of Toyota) started contracting with GM. Part quality went to down the crapper. No thanks.

Don't worry, they'll be $12,500 on the secondary market.

Hard sell for the money, but the reviews state that they are a simply spectacular car.

This has the same kind of transmission (automated manual) as this That's a huge mistake IMO. There's more to driving than gas pedal / brake pedal / point the car in the direction you want to go.

Steve, did you know there are Ferrari models that you cannot buy with a manual transmission? Sad but true, it seems to be the way of the future.

				 | They apparently don't need any luck. The entire 500 car production run is now sold out at $375K each. Per Toyota, one third of the orders are from Germany. Tim | ||
