Nurburgring this Weekend June 12-13
Any Pelican going to the Ring this weekend?
I will be there, watching the VLN race on Saturday, and for Sunday I reserved the 996 from RentRaceCar. The last time I was there I rented the Audi TT from them, the 996 should be more fun.

24 hours of Le Mans is this weekend, I imagine the 'ring will be pretty light on traffic.

The last time I was there the traffic was heavy not as much fun as with light traffic. At the moment the weather forecast look good too.

Where's the usual predictable band of haters to come out and say "it was only a targa" or "it was only a 912"?
In all honestly I can appreciate the guy's effort. Looks to be a decent (though not great) install. There's a hell of a lot less oil under that car than most 911s/912s I've seen also. I would have serious concern about frame rigidity though - that's a lot of torque for not having a rear crossmember. I can appreciate what the guy did - either spend $10k rebuilding an underpowered 4-cyl to be "authentic" or spend about the same to put in a whole ton of horsepower? I can see the appeal. I wouldn't buy it (certainly not for what he's asking) but I can definitely see why he did.
