USC football- whatz up?
The USC football program will receive a two-year postseason ban, a reduction in scholarships and a forfeiture of wins from at least the 2004 season when the NCAA releases its sanctions on Thursday, a source told ESPN's Shelley Smith.
The Los Angeles Times reported the NCAA sanctions include the loss of more than 20 scholarships. ESPN The Magazine's Bruce Feldman confirmed the two-year postseason ban and a reduction in scholarships from a second USC source. TV also said Reggie Bush had something to do with this. Any of you West coast Pelicans know the detail?

Blame it all on Bush again:
"The NCAA says Bush received lavish gifts from two fledgling sports marketers hoping to sign him. The men paid for everything from hotel stays and a rent-free home where Bush's family apparently lived to a limousine and a new suit when he accepted his Heisman Trophy in New York in December 2005. The NCAA found that Bush, identified as a "former football student-athlete," was ineligible beginning at least by December 2004, a ruling that could open discussion of the revocation of the New Orleans Saints star's Heisman. Members of the Heisman Trust have said they might review Bush's award if he were ruled ineligible by the NCAA."

also Mayo
BUT the real problem is not with the college kids: "The university was cited for lack of institutional control." The real problem was Pete Carroll & Tim Floyd. N.C.A.A. Hands Down Harsh Penalties to U.S.C. - NYTimes.com |

It's all in the NCAA report. All about the repeat violations, lack of instl control, agents everywhere, coaches and school "looking the other way," players getting everything from cars to (literally) free color TVs, etc. Basically rampant cheating for the better part of a decade. Disgusting. Was discussed earlier today College Conference Realignment? |

Lots O'lies in this thread.
According to the NCAA, Carroll and the football program are guilty of only one thing: not knowing that reggie bush was getting freebies. The NCAA said that USC should have kept a closer eye on it's top running back to make sure he wasn't tempted or corrupted off the field. They are being punished because they didn't spy on a player or keep him locked up in a jail cell. I guess USC needs to hire 24 hour a day private detectives to perform surveillance on all football players from now on. If LSU or many other top universities did that they wouldn't be able to field a team due to all the crimes committed. Bush is long gone, so this won't hurt him. Carroll is gone, even though he didn't have part in this alleged penalty except for not knowing what was going on behind the scenes so this won't punish him. All it will do is punish the next generation of players and coaches who had nothing to do with it and did nothing wrong. Oh, and it will make all the petty jealous college football fans who hate USC for irrational, emotional reasons happy. I'm glad Aaron Corp had enough sense to get out of there when he did but I feel sorry for the two kids i personally know who are still there on the football team and who are getting hurt for no reason. their careers, their future, their potential is getting tarnished and diminished because of the greed and actions of one ghetto POS. Yeah that makes sense. How about we ask the NFL to strip all his records? They are the ones paying him millions. How about we punish the aints? They are the ones who don't care how much of a low-life he is as long as he helps them win. Strip their superbowl win. That'd make more sense than punishing a bunch of kids and coaches who had nothing to do with it and did nothing wrong. New orleans has never been known for their morals, he's a perfect fit. Would now be a good time to remind us all how much a certain moral, religious, charitable, squeaky clean college quarterback was flamed here last season because of the patches under his eyes? Would now be a good time to remind us how a certain football player attacked another person after a game last year and committed felony assault and battery, yet was not prosecuted? He was suspended for the year, until the POS school needed him to win a bowl game. Then all was forgotten. Freaking hypocrites. Last edited by sammyg2; 06-10-2010 at 09:07 PM.. |

You are basing that statement only on what is being reported in the media, so I can see how you think that. The Reggie Bush issue is a big part of it, so that's mostly what most reports are focusing on. But, as stated in the other thread (and quoted directly from the report), there is much, much more than just the Reggie Bush stuff. |

That's just the facts. And, BTW, in this case, the punishment fits the crime. For 10 years of cheating by Figueroa Tech, this punishment will affect not just the next generation of players and coaches, but the next 10 years. Esp. in light of the PAC10 expansion. |

Really.
I mean Sammy spinning the facts, misrepresenting the facts and distorting the truth in an attempt to defend an institution that has been found, after a multi-year investigation, to be one of cheaters, liars, "repeat violating" rule breakers, thugs, and people who continually avoid personal responsibility and accountability. Holy crap, Sammy's become a Democrat. |
