Yep. Loved Csonka. Butkus too. Real men, real heroes. (Jeez, I'm old...)

I used to think Brian Urlacher might be the next Butkus, but that doesn't seem to be happening...

These were my local heroes growing up:

Great pic!

Even as a 49'er fan growing up in SoCal, it was hard not to admire the FF.

My, "You know You're Old, but others are older" moment: I jumped from over 40 to over 50 baseball last year. "You the new young guy" was the first question I was asked at practice. He was serious.

It is all perspective

i feel ancient.
Was just at my Brothers house in the Ozarks last week. They are still using dial up to get on the 'net. Fussed with his computer a bit and got it going at 21.6k instead of the 14.4k that it had been doing. (phone lines are dirty) They were happy as can be at the speed increase!

Sad to see...

Nope, sorry. But my dad had me using one in intermediate and high school! I still have his favourite pair of them. My ex threw away the old TI-30 he had. Seemed like the size of a brick...

Actually lid is what I remember. Kids kept it in an old dip container, I always thought that was why they called it a lid... Who knows?

I recently turned on an "Oldies" radio station and realized most of the so called oldies were from my high school days, doesn't even seem possible that that much time has passed so quickly. I remember turning on the same station years ago and it was all 50s and 60s stuff, which seemed like ancient history at the time. Perspective I guess...

And Roman Gabriel along with Jack Snow and the rest of the crew.
Our family had just relocated to SOCAl from Wisconsin. I am still a Green Bay Packers fan, through thick or thin, but those games between the Packers and the Rams were hard to take as they were played by some hard core old school football players.
