Gordan Murray's T.25 City Car.

Would you buy one?

For ~$9000...it doesn't sound like a bad idea...so long as I get to keep all my other toys. Wonder how it performs thought. My commute sees 70 MPH or more...any less speed and I'm a rolling speed bump on the expressway. Stability at those speeds are critical, so I wonder what a narrow sort wheel base vehicle would feel like.

I've always been a fan of the center driver's position, and in a car this small it makes more sense.

I think it might fly in certain European cities, but not in the U.S..

I think pic #5 from the article sums it up for me - a giant blob of jello. I can't imagine the car being much more effective in keeping me alive should some SUV soccer mom decide it's time to put on her makeup. Cool concept and I could see its use in some of the more crowded European cities.

Doesn't stop me from riding a motorcycle...but if I can't get out of the way as quickly as I can on my motorcycle...it'd be a problem.

In the US - until such a car is allowed in HOV lanes, HOV lanes exist on all highways, and parking designed to make it beneficial to own such a car....we won't see a big wave of these...Americans like their big cars and they don't mine paying high dollars for fuel!

I can't get excited about a car that's taller (1.6m) than it is wide (1.3m) It just seems so contrived. Why so skinny? Why so tall? How can that have good aero for excellent mpg out of a 51HP engine?

Smart Car's are short to allow nose-in parking on crowded downtown streets. Is the T.25 trying to fit in bike lanes or on sidewalks? I'm confused by this car.

I want at least a 10sec 0-60 in a car. I do not want to come into an interstate slow!

Two cars per lane... in terms of width....two cars in terms of length....4 cars in the same space as 1 means 4 times the road capacity.. in theory.
In most of Europe this makes a lot of sense.. the physical size fo cars does generate its own congestion.

4 cars per parking bay...

And so on.

If its inexpensive enough it becomes the primary car and 'on demand' cars of large size are used for longer/ weekend trips.
I would have imagined buying this a few years ago for my cross London commute...but now its down to a few mins on the bicycle and other means don't make sense.

Souk, are you sure this isn't the center-driver-position car you meant to talk about?

Smarts are surprisingly strong. But their handling is remarkably bad, and they're absurdly expensive here.
I'd rather be in a Smart than a Kia.
0-62 in 16.2 seconds is pretty darn slow.

0-60 in 16.2 seconds? Too slow.

For that kind of money and gas mileage, I can get a nice motorcycle and, IMO, be almost as safe.
