I fell in the lake once with my phone, it was a very recently purchased blackberry. I gave the sales lady heck because she didnt tell me I couldn't swim with it; she was puzzled until she realized I was joking. Anyway, I dried it out with a hair dryer and it worked for 2 years before trading up. Problem though, I melted my wifes new couch right on the arm rest where it still shows today whatyagunnado?

reading this thread made me dig out the first phone I owned to see how much they have advanced in form and function since the mid 90's. I'm sure I still have the huge bag/car phone stashed somewhere, but this is my "little" phone I carried around everywhere when not in the car,. and then I dug out a couple more advanced and compact versions bought thru the years just to compare size. it just wasn't quite small enough to carry in my pocket or clip on my belt, but it was better than using payphones. even if I had to drive a couple miles closer to our one tower to get a signal.

on my 7th phone in 11 years, but 3rd one in the past 3. Last phone was the Palm Pre which I absolutely hated...speakerphone stopped working on 3 different phones within the first 4-5 months.

Just got a HTC Evo 4G and absolutely love it!

I keep a phone until the contract is up or it breaks... whatever comes first...

I'm also "just need a phone" kinda guy so I have stuck with Nokia, and my cheap ($50) little phone on a low buck ($50 a month) plan does email and text and has a so so camera.

Wife loved her BB but traded it in on some shiny new POC that she hates... will prob switch her back to BB when her contract is up in Feb. (and we join plans)

When my contract is up my inner gadget boy may win over Mr. just needs a phone and I may jump to a droid or BB.

I've had cell phones since 1993, and in that time I believe I have only used 5 phones. It would be 3 but I've dropped two phones in the river and eventually had to replace them when needing to call someone with a 2, 5, or 8 in their number. For some odd reason it's always the middle digits that get fried . . .

Current phone is an HTC 8525 upgraded to the latest version of Windows Mobile; think I've had it nearly 4 years.
