A nice ending to the long weekend-- RUSH in concert in Chicago

They played at the 7500 seat Pavillion on Northerly Island-- perfect weather, and the Chicago skyline is a nice backdrop. That's Soldier Field on the far left, spanning to Lake Michigan on the right. Rush sounded great by the way-- Neil did a solo incorporating his Buddy Rich influence which was really cool. My wife came with me for *****s and giggles and ended up having a really good time. I thought Rick would enjoy this.

Good stuff! I've seen them 4 times since the late '90s, and was amazed that they would put on a 3+ hour set the last 3 times they played in Raleigh. They also looked like they were genuinely having fun with it. If they stop in town this year, I'll probably go again.

Did Geddy play through those three chicken rotisseries this time out? Somebody also told me that they were going to play Jacob's Ladder on this tour...That's reason enough for me to see them again. I like absurdist time signatures.

Very cool - that must've been an awesome venue also. I had a chance to catch them in Vegas for the Snakes & Arrows tour but passed (I don't particularly care for anything involving large crowds). I'm hoping at some point to catch them at a smaller venue one of these days before they hang it up, but who knows if that'll happen!

Some of the best rock musicians ever. Seriously.

Saw the opening show in Albuquerque last week, around my 70th Rush concert, and then drove all night back to Phoenix afterwards. Great show. I'll see them again next month in Vegas and Red Rocks.

I won't give away any spoilers here, but be in your seat for the intro and outro films. They are excellent.

Until the Snakes & Arrows tour, I think I only went to these shows to watch Neil. But since the last tour, Geddy has been stealing every show. His live bass sound is the best it's ever been and it looks like he's been taking voice lessons in the off season. His singing has been excellent. Honestly, last week Geddy and Alex crushed Neil. They stole the show and Neil still played perfectly, as usual. As far as I could tell, they only played one song they had never performed live before. I know this because I've seen every tour since the album that contained that song. The Moving Pictures stuff was pretty cool, but far from the highlight. I was really looking forward to Camera Eye, but didn't like some of the changes they made to it. I had seen them play every other song on that album live on other tours. The highlight for me was a song they last played live many moons ago and they crushed it. Lots of classic stuff, you won't be disappointed. My seats this time were probably worst I've ever had, near the sound board. I usually get in the first 10 rows. So it wasn't loud where I was and there was a tiny delay. You'll have a blast.
