The Census came by today...

.....but they were here the day before yesterday!? It was the same person both days. My wife talked to him on Thursday, she gave her name and her telephone number. When he came today, I talked to him and he wanted to know the names of the other people in the house. I politely told him I sent the form in with all the information I was going to give the Census. He said O.K. and left.
When he came to the door the first time he said he was there because the house was reported as vacant. Today I looked at the mess of papers he was carrying and saw the very Census form that I filled out and sent in!
Is this a game they play to try to get the information? are they hoping to intercept different people on different days to try to fill in the pieces? I posted a sign on the inside of the door with instructions for the kids to use the speakeasy and answer any question asked by the workers with "I am a minor, I have to go".
It seems to me like they are fishing. BTW he drives, what must be his own car, straight to my address and straight back out of the neighborhood. I can't be the only one they are coming to see out here.

I'm not paranoid. I simply asked a couple of questions to see if anyone has insight as to how the Census Bureau conducts their verification. It looks to me like a used car sales operation where the salesperson goes and "talks to the manager" a couple of times.

the two census girls came by my house yesterday....they were asking me about my neighbors. didn't ask any information about myself (except for one of the census girls, completely covered in tats, smoking a cig, asked me if my bmw was a 318 or a 325....and asked it was a 2.5 or 2.7 liter. ...completely random)

I was with a group of 30 people in a backwoods, meth-encrusted Oregon hideaway when a census worker drove up a few weeks ago. ALL of us were practicing with large swords and wearing black pants & red T-shirts.

It did not faze the woman at all - she just asked about the nearby house.

Then I noticed the Oregon Country Fair stickers on her car - I guess she'd already seen everything.

the guy they were asking me about is an old recluse who refuses to answer his door. they asked if what he did for a living (obviously retired/widowed) and asked if he lived there full time.

I've been dodging the Census guy for months. But where I live now was vacant on April 1 and I did send my form back from my last house with the information I thought was relevant. I don't answer my door ever for unexpected guests.
