MODERATORS NEEDED in Parts Classified

How is it that someone is allowed to have 17 bumps, ads in the parts for sale section when the guidelines state "no more than 4 allowed per page".It means there is no moderators there.

All your moderator are belong to us.

What perturbs me are the posts selling parts with "best offer" or no price, when in the guidelines it clearly states you have to have a price on each item.

I emailed Wayne about this last week. His reply was not what I expected, saying that "its a tough job" or the like.

Looks like we need some more moderators it thats the case!

There are many abuses in the classifieds. Which section are you referring to?

You can always hit the red triangle button on any post and report the post if you feel this is aggravating enough. Most of us appreciate the free service and don't encumber the forums or our host with minor problems.

As I said, there are a lot of abuses and abusers. Don't buy from them is one way to rectify the problems

I don't really see excess bumps as a big deal. Here are you alternatives:

One "for sale" thread with 17 bumps.
Four "for sale" threads with the approved 4 bumps.

I know which I would rather see when searching for something.

i for one certainly enjoy certain individuals here, telling ME what i should sell an item for. especially morons from some rust bucket state when i have a concours perfect non rusted part that they need more than life itself.

i would sure enjoy unloading my 911 crap and clearing bench/ shop space but the aggravation is wayyyy too much to handle.

sammyg2 07-07-2010 11:28 AM

No kidding. I'm about ready to stop paying my subscription fee for this forum. And that 8% commission that Pelican charges when you sell something on their forum is crazy too.

Oh wait, it's all free. Never mind. ;)

It amazes me that Wayne even allows the parts classifieds (which I'm eternally grateful for). They do arguably compete with his parts sales, which support this site and (ironically) the parts classifieds.

That's a bit excessive don't you think?

one ad with 17 items in it, compared to 17 ads with one item each.

Oh Haha 07-07-2010 12:25 PM

I check out the classifieds most days for the heck of it.

What I find bothersome is car for sale ads that don't include some basic info like pics, mileage, location, etc.

I took the time to contact a couple of sellers to encourage them to update their perspective ads but then realized it's not my problem nor my duty to do that.

I was sincerely trying to help a fellow car guy generate some interest in what they were selling. Now, I figure if they want to sell an item THEY should do a better job. MYOB is how I see it now.

I can't complain about that one as long as each of the 17 titles says what the part is and inside it says where it is. As well as asking price, shipping, etc.

I wonder how many have really read the rules:

I think this is a good thread. Unfortunately, most parts buyers won't come over to PPOT. They may be the smart ones.

Shaun @ Tru6 07-07-2010 01:09 PM

I'm sorry Milt. My point was that each forum has its own moderator(s). If you see something wrong, there's the little exclamation icon to report a problem.

I'm sure Noah is a busy guy. But all the OP needed to do was send him a note. Every forum has its own moderator.

78SCSLANTNOSE 07-07-2010 01:44 PM

Shaun I was going to send Noah a note but he hasn't been on since monday. And the 17 items could have been put in one listing.

Shaun @ Tru6 07-07-2010 01:53 PM

OK, I understand where you are coming from. Even if he isn't "on," Noah will still get notified of your concern.
