send a copy cert. mail to her last known address (that would be yours, no doubt) - print out the web site info

this proves you sent the notice

I'd also save a pic of the posted notice - have the good roomie in the shot holding the front page of that days paper & include something in the pic to ID where it is posted.

- hope you don't have to prove any of it in Ct. but ya never know

So, no sight nor sound of crazy roommate lady since Saturday AM. We were thinking, what if ironically, she were picked up off the street for going BERSERKER on someone. She was already wound up pretty tight.

Anyhow... I believe CA law is an eviction must be 30-day notice, unless a signed agreement says otherwise. I highly doubt we'll get a signed agreement. I'll print out a 30-day, date it Saturday and put on there the OPTION to pro-rate a refund if they decide to leave early, etc. Unfortunately... This does us no good if she doesn't come back.

If she's not back by the 9th of August we can pack her stuff, change the locks, clean & prep the room and get a new tenant. My friend's niece is moving out here from Minnesota. Mommy & Daddy are paying her way, so we'll see if that may be a better option.
Look her up:

I had a buddy who once asked his girlfriend what she was thinking. She said, "I was thinking about stabbing you in the eye with an ice pick.''

Some might say this was some sort of indicator.

So it's been a couple of weeks, and time for an update...

While crazy roommate went on hiatus, my friend got a phone call.

From College hospital. Apparently it is a drug/alcohol rehab clinic. They couldn't release the details of how she came to be there (and I found no arrest record) but they wanted to know if she had a place to stay. He told them "Well, she rents a room here."

So she came back Tuesday. Originally we thought Friday. She's definitely moving out -- even if she didn't agree to we posted the eviction notice for her. Trash went out this morning and it looks as if she's throwing away most of her things. Her decision. Aside from that the house has smelled like dank skunkweed the last two days. I guess she's smoking it while she's still got it.

She's had a few screaming fits (in her room) since Tuesday. She's been lucid today but who knows what meds she's on and what they're actually doing for her. Once she's out and we verify the room isn't damaged - it's listed. Sadly our financial situations don't give us the ease of affording the whole rent between both of us. I can tell you one thing though: definitely going to look for the signs of mental instabilities before hand. After dealing with this washout trashbomb we'll take someone who isn't a clean-freak so long as they're sane, employed, responsible and have a semblance of a social life. No more single middle-aged women (unless it's a MILF...)
