A little feel good crime story.

I will try not to make this too long.
One of my buddies owns a fairly large scrap metal business. He lives right across the street from the business.
He has been getting robbed on a fairly regular basis for the last 3-4 weeks now. He knew who it was , and so did the police, but I guess there was not enough evidence to make an arrest at this point.
He is a huge powerhouse of a junkyard dog kind of guy. He tosses engine blocks around like they are frisbee's. He is a real good guy, but has a horrible temper ( I have witnessed this firsthand)
He told me that if he catches the thieves, that he will personally throw them in the crusher.
He finally resorted to staying up all night watching the surviellance camera's. It took 4 days, but he finally caught them on their way in. He did the right thing, and called the police, but he beat them to the scene. I guess that when the local police showed up, Donnie already had one guy in the crusher , and his big brute of a brother in law, was wrestling one of the others into the crusher.
I heard ( right from the local officers mouth) that the guy in the crusher was crying his eyes out, and begging for his life when the police showed up.
For what it is worth, the crusher is incapable of killing a human, it only crushes down to something like 30", but it would be enough to scare the hell out of anyone.
Put a little smile on my face, the thieves lived about 300 yards from my shop, and I have been a little worried my self.

I think you could kill someone in one of those crushers if there was enough other stuff in it. We used one of those dumpster-sized cardboard compactors at a warehouse I worked at in high school. We threw a guy in there once, but first made sure it was totally empty of other stuff. He didn't come close to gettng crushed. But he would have, had we had it full of pallet wood.

Pictures... we need pictures of this!

Problem is that they will get tossed in the slammer for a couple of weeks then let back out again...

Heh heh... excellent... thanks for sharing, Fred.

That would make a great scene in a movie... let's say Ving Rhames is the big guy, and just before he grabs the first bad guy and tosses him into the crusher, he presses the play button on a beat up boombox sitting atop an old rusty Caddy and this starts playing...

I'm thinking Tarantino or Coen Brothers, and the cops tell him to "go ahead, turn it on" when they arrive.

Wow...I went to a park like that in Fla. many years ago...Myakka River State Park near Sarasota, and it was damn near all gators. Funny ? thing is they would and did rent canoes ! I also saw guys wading in thigh deep to fish. Sanitizes the gene pool I guess.
