My summer..........
I lost my Mom to cancer on Jul 8th. Not looking for sympathy. She had seven strokes and then was diagnosed with cancer a year-and-a-half ago with four months to live. She made it 19 months. She and my Dad were having a pic-nic lunch at the park and she died suddenly from a bloodclot and fell off the park bench. No pain, no fear. This is how my wife and I hope to pass on.
My daughter and I have restored a Prindle Catamaran this summer and today we sailed her for the first time. Perfect. I've purchased three motorcycles this summer. A 1975 Yamaha RD 250 with 1,300 miles; a 1975 Suzuki GT 380 with 6,200 miles and an 1985 Moto Morini 350 K2 with 13,000 miles; my new hobby. Photos are forthcoming. I'm thankful for God, my family, the ability to serve (24 years now and going; Private to Sergeant and 2nd Lt to LTC). Marines and Army. I hope your summer is as fruitful and thankful. Please count your blessings Snapper |

So sorry to hear about your mom. It's good to talk about it even if it's here with your car pals.
How long were your folks married? Sounds like you have enough projects to keep you busy right into the autumn. Take care, my friend. +1 on thanks for your service.

My thoughts and prayers.....and also thanks.
My Moms birthday was July 8th, she would have been 93. She passed after 7 years of Alsheimers. It was very hard for her and harder for my wife and I to watch her go through her end of life. Many times we said prayers to "make her better" but we realized that would never happen. Our prayers turned to "please take her". She was so ready, losing the ability to swallow, she got down to 68lbs. Both my parents are gone now, and there are so many things I wish I had said and done.

Many thoughts and prayers to you on the loss of your mom.
Certainly mine is getting much older and fortunately is still in good health. Her time will come and my heart will break. Console and spend time with your dad, you'll never regret it. Congrats to you and your daughter! This will live with her forever. Personally, I think nothing is more important than family. I also have been very blessed. On the 380.......fun bike, keep the carbs clean. Thank you for helping me provide for my family Karl 88 Targa |

Prayers for your mom. Sounds like you and your daughter had fun. They grow up fast, so enjoy it while you can.
And thanks for serving! |

Karl pretty much covered it.
Not a bad way to go for your Mother, would be rough on your Father, though I don't know if it would be worse to be there or not. Watch him closely, especially if they were together a long time. Alzheimer's is brutal on the family

Its been a tough summer over here as well but hopefully looking up. We all have a lot to be thankful for and there are a lot of people in much worse shape than we are these days. Joe A

They were married 45 years. I'm 42. She was just three days shy of her 71st Birthday and my Dad is in his eighties. I'm taking good care of him. They're both spiritually sound and Dad has told me he knows where she is and he seems to be adjusting well. We're close and I'll keep him close.
