Son won 1st place in 4H with lemonade stand and didn't get shut down

My son wanted to do an independent project for 4H and he chose a lemonade stand. We decided to set up along a popular walking/ biking trail near a Madison lake. Because of his site choice and the fact Madison is a organic/ granola crunchy city my son decided to use fresh lemons and real sugar. I helped him build a cost sheet giving a price breakdown so he knew how much to charge in order to drive a profit. We figured each cup would cost $0.54 to produce, charging $1.00 for each 18 oz cup would allow a profit of $0.46/ cup. I took him shopping and loaned him the money to buy supplies. He made all the signage, mixed up the sugar syrup by heating the water and finalized his formula. We set up and almost immediately people started purchasing lemonade. One sip and the people were amazed it tasted so good. People took pictures of his business and shared their lemonade stand stories. There was one instance were 6 college age guys walked past to go for a walk on the pathway. They didn't take much notice of the lemonade stand. On their way out there were 2 college girls clad in skimpy bikinis purchasing 2 cups of lemonade. The college guys saw the girls and made their way over very quickly and purchased a round. My son raised a glass in celebration. He did quite well that day and had it in his heart to reward his sister for helping him with the stand by buying her a nice ice cream. After he paid his debts he made $24 pure profit. At one point a police officer drove slowly past and I thought he was going to get shut down but he just kept on driving. He made up his display for 4H and showed this past week. He talked through his detailed cost sheet and explained the photos. He seemed to learn quite a bit about business, costing, location, advertising, quality, customer service, and human relations. It was a fun project for everybody involved. I am so proud of him. He should have paid the bikini models to hang around, he might have made a couple of thousand pure profit. (at least that's how the beer companies do it)
