Goodbye Turf Skatepark

Highway construction unearths old skateboard park - JSOnline

This was an old skatepark built in the 70s that was one of the best in the country. It was closed for a while in the 80s, but then opened again in the 90s. I used to go there all the time, it was like my second home for a few years. I got to see some of the greats skate there. Anyway, they tore it up for some highway project and it is now gone forever. RIP Turf..........

I used to shred there back in the late 80's early 90's. Great bowls some of which were scary as heck. I might still have my Turf ID card buried somewhere in my sock drawer.

RIP

Speedy

I was hoping someone or the county would buy it back and restore it one last time and make it part of the park system. An old guys night would be what I need, but it would still be fun. There is an all wood skate park in town, but I feel like an idiot showing up there with a bunch of kids around. There is nothing like skating in a concrete bowl. The sound, speed and feeling when you hit the ground....LOL
