Log Cabin Vacation Rental -Tennesse
Well, I have started to plan out our very first ever family vacation, since I have travel almost all over the world ( 3 passports in 13 years) it was not an easy decision but I have choose to go to Tennesse and stay in a Log Cabin, my requirements are
* Nice View * QUIET * Pool * Internet ![]() * some source of attractions near ( outdoor) * Good Dinning close * a/c * Horse back riding * TV * Activities for my boys 14 & 10 That's pretty much what we need, first problem is that I'm not familiar with that area and after doing a search there's hundreds of log cabins available, so which one is better than the other? which area is better than the other? ![]() ![]() So educate me on Tennesse Log Cabin Rentals 101 ![]()

You may check around Gatlinburg. Never did a cabin there but there is lots to do right around there. Must be a cabin to suit your needs. Only part of TN I've been to myself.

I've got a friend, more or less, who owns a few nice cabins around Gatlinburg. I could put you in touch with him if you like. They are not junk. Everything is close around the area, dining, games, sports, lakes etc. If not this, there are thousands of cabins to rent in the area, just google it.

becareful around the gatlinburg, pigeon forge area. Once outside the immediate area, it is beatiful and the nicer cabins are awesome, with beautfiful mountain views. But in gatlinburg, and pigeon forge, there are so many people....it is absurd.
We stayed up there a few years ago, had a cabin for 3 days, and it was great, b/c we got all of food & drinks on the way in, and just stayed up there in the mountains. But leaving Sunday, mid-day...it took us 3 hours to drive about 15 miles. Stop and go, bumper to bumper traffic. |

We always rent cabins from this website, you get to deal directly with the owners and they can usually tell you plenty of info about the area you choose.

We have rented condos in the hills over looking Gatlinburg a couple of times. I can't remeber the name of the rental agency, but there are a bunch of nice places to rent up on roads up near the Ober Gatlinburg facility.

I live in the area and have rented a few cabins in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area (in fact, we've thinking about renting one in September). One of your requirements that will be harder to meet is the pool. Not much flat land for a pool.
![]() The absolute best cabin rental we've had around here was in Wears Valley (just west of Pigeon Forge about 15 minutes). Traffic in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg can be rough, so it's nice to stay just outside of there.

Why Tennessee? Georgia is a shorter ride for you from Florida and the North Georgia mountains are just as beautiful. Check out a whole bunch of places from Helen, Amicalola Falls, Brasstown Bald, Dahlonega, etc. Same mountain range, scenery and lots to do.

Why Tennessee?
As you can imagine here in USA we have many many beautiful places, Tennessee is one of the places that I have always wanted to visit and who knows maybe I can build my own log cabin and retired there ![]() It looks like Traffic in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg is very bad as everyone is recommending to stay away from those areas, so I will look into the Wears Valley area, any other areas?

East Tennessee is a beautiful area. Got lost there one and had to take some local roads in the 911. Not a bad place to plan for retirement. I forget what road I was on but the area was a horse friendly area and I recall some nice looking B&Bs. Not log cabins but nice.
I was not paying attention and went north from George instead of west to Chattanoga. Then I took a road west over the mountain to catch up with the main hwy going west. Have a good vacation, Juan. |

It depends on which weekend it is. You do not want to be there when they are having their hotrod weekend if you plan to drive around the towns much. ![]() There is a bypass that not everyone knows about between Pigeon Forge and G'burg that on most weekends will not be too busy. There are also parallel roads east of Pigeon Forge's main drag that can be useful. When I was a kid in the late 60's and early 70's, the Pigeon Forge strip was only maybe a mile long..... now it pretty much extends to Sevieresville (sp ?). My parents and my siblings vacationed there many years until I was and adult. I have been there many times since with my wife and kids. Sure it is touristy, but at the same time the Smoky Mountain National Park remains a beautiful place. Every time I go there it brings back childhood memories of cheap bow/arrow sets, pocket knives, waterslides, jumping rocks at Chimney Tops, pancakes at the Pancake Pantry etc. The Pancake Pantry (in Gatlinburg) is still there, and the Chimney Tops area still looks like it did in pictures I have of me as a toddler and dad climbing over rocks in the late sixties.

I stayed in Cherokee NC last year and it was great. Small town, HUGE CABIN, 40 mins from Gatlinburg TN without the crowds.

My friends and I went down there last Memorial Day weekend. We stayed at:
Log Cabins. Yes traffic is bad, but a short drive and you will be on the best road(s) probably in the US. You have to check out US129 (aka Tail of the Dragon). You will not regret it. ![]() |
