Arthritis pain or............

.....other pain associated with inflammation like joint soreness from hard workouts? Well, I'm not a Doctor, and I haven't stayed in a Holiday Inn in over 20 years, but this is worth sharing.

I was reading about James Coburn who has Rheumatoid Arthritis, and what he did about it. It's called OptiMSM. It's around the 5th most available substance in the body, and is not a drug and doesn't react with other meds. That was important to me because of my heart meds.

I have Gouty arthritis, but I have trauma induced arthritis in my neck and upper back. Lately the pain became more than annoying, and NSAIDS are taboo for me. So I figured I'd try this stuff.

I bought it at Elliots Health Foods, a small Sacramento chain. It was 22-23 bucks, and because of my readings, I made sure I bought the 'good' stuff. One container is a little less than a 6 month supply. The young kid at the store says he takes it because it helps with his workout pain.

So I started taking this a week ago tomorrow. I was skeptical, I don't believe in wonder drugs, but I was tired of the pain. By Monday the pain was about 1/3 of what it was prior to the use. Today the pain is about 1/10th of what it was. I'm truly amazed.

You can talk to your doctor before trying this stuff, but I'm sold. Young or old, in shape or outta shape, arthritis or stud muffin, I think it's something worth checking out. I repeat, it's all natural.

Note: It hasn't done a whole lot for my Gouty Arthritis, but there is a slight improvement. Keep in mind this stuff doesn't cure the condition, just significantly reduces the inflammation. Also, I still take my Glucosomine/Chondroitin pills. Can't take those from me!

A lot of gout is diet related. Protein metabamolism. Staying very well hydrated, being careful about what proteins you take in and being aware of drugs prone to precipitating attacks. Tart cherry juice will help a surprising amount with gout, as will eating cherries.

Elliots is the bomb, just up the street from my office.

It may be good stuff, but just because something is all natural does not mean it is safe. Ricin is all natural and one of the deadliest poisons around.

Don't get me wrong I am not saying OptiMSM is bad at all, but just because it is natural does not make it good.

According to the OP, OptiMSM is the good stuff. MSM, Methylsulfonylmethane, is the compound.

OptiMSM : Your Ultimate Source for Purely Superior MSM

The bottom of the website says "Bergstrom Nutrition".

The stuff I bought is 'Source Naturals MSM'. I would imagine There are other brands, but I just went to a health food store. BTW, today is day 8. I'm 95% pain free in my neck, and about a 25% improvement with my Gouty Arthritis. Just make sure you don't buy Ricen.

For gout, I am not kidding about the cherry juice thing. For acute attacks, which are about the most painful thing a dude gets this side of a kidney stone, I give you a cortisone shot and you are ready to kiss me on the mouth.

Once the cartilage is gone, you are pretty much hosed, some decent implants available, but I don't have any experience using them for gout damage. Depending on how trashed the joint is and level of pain, fusion might be the way to go.

I'm a vegetarian, drink no alcohol of any kind, eat tart cherries or drink tart cherry juice every day and my gout still flares up every year. I avoid foods that are high in purines (salmon, asparagus, lentils, etc...). I took Aleve the past 2 weeks to control the gout pain and it was effective. I drink 1 gallon of water a day and do everything else I'm supposed to do. I sure wish they would come up with a cure for gout!

Thats what happened to me. Fused it and don't even think about it anymore, continue to operate as normal except no pain and it used to be bad!
