Pretty cool. I've raced against similar cars with the local vintage club. You can make a Fairlane pretty fast if you set it up right.

Yep, I read an article about that car a while back. And remember the old "Thunderbolts" were pretty impressive in a straight line back then!

I love the way that engine sounds completely relaxed and under-stressed at 240/kmh.

Now, add it that the Fairlane has the AREODYNAMICS of a 911.....going sideways

You might be surprised just how light. Think early 911 light.

One of the locals campaigns an original Holman/Moody prepped Fairlane in our vintage events. He is generally one of the fastest cars in his run group.

That looks like one of those short wheel base Thunderbolts in the pic, looks like a T-Bird emblem L front fender, the Ford V-8 fender badge did not look like that, I don't think

The short wheelbase Thunderbolts were drag cars, not road racers. They eventually evovled in the old AF/X, or "A" factory experimental class, which eventually became the "funny car" class. The rear axle on those early cars was actually even with, or ahead of, the "C" pillar / rear window.

Super cool. I love all sorts of motor vehicles, but it's hard to top many classics for style points.
