Wayne mine shows to be downloading from more than one addy as well... One of them being the one circled in the picture....

slodave 08-19-2010 09:55 PM

I've seen it from several different PC's. Including my now retired XP HD.

porsche4life 08-19-2010 10:04 PM

Possible we all got internet aids?

slodave 08-19-2010 10:09 PM

Hey Wayne, I noticed something wrong with your computer... Notice the blue icon... That's PS CS5. You're running something like 5/6/7.

The above is on my computer... But my comments reflect using other computers... Which means it's a widespread issue. probably will be a recurring one.. Will have to watch the cookies and try and note when it appears.

It's old!!! :) The new versions are so much more advanced, better tools, more control.

slodave 08-19-2010 10:43 PM

New video, cookie test with Mozilla FF. Cleared cookies, set default page to blank. Restart, check cookies, nothing. Visit PP, check cookies....

Link removed

I tried the same thing, visited cnn.com, turn.com did not show up. Repeated attempts.

Jim Richards 08-20-2010 03:35 AM

it just did it again for me. the main PPBBS page wouldn't load. I aborted and came back a minute later and it worked. strange stuff.

Jim Richards 08-20-2010 03:37 AM

the quick reply hung up, too.

Halm 08-20-2010 03:54 AM

Wayne, FWIW, since you made the changes I have never seen Pelican faster. Working great here!

Jim Richards 08-20-2010 04:32 AM

it's fast now.

Rot 911 08-20-2010 05:00 AM

Still the same hang ups with me. Never seems to do so at night when I am at home. Only during the day. Maybe the increased traffic? Can't be the internet provider as I use the same one at work and at the office.

GH85Carrera 08-20-2010 05:24 AM

It happens to me at home and at work. Sometime it takes 20 or 30 seconds to refresh. Most of the time it is fast.

porsche4life 08-20-2010 06:11 AM

It hasn't hung up on me... I'm still seeing several things trying to load though. I ran AVG and Windoze Defender last night and both came back blank...

BGCarrera32 08-20-2010 06:26 AM

Typically when it hangs for me it will be after I have hit "submit reply" to a post, and it will process it for +30 seconds or better. Firefox will just keep grinding away on it.

greglepore 08-20-2010 07:03 AM

Hasn' t hung for me since the initial changes.

Yep, just did that on my last post. Let's see how this one goes.

Little over 10 seconds.

Edit was instant.

second edit was instant.

Jim Richards 08-20-2010 02:13 PM

I've had a couple of instances of it hanging up during the past hour.

syncroid 08-20-2010 03:10 PM

I am still having hang ups. Just tried sending a PM and it took almost a full minute to go through. Nothing showing up in the lower left except for the word "Done". This happens here at home and at work.
Edit. Most of the time it works fast.

Wayne, thank you for the board and your efforts to keep it running smoothly.

JJ 911SC 08-20-2010 03:37 PM

The numbers look great...

... but I just flash up and right away I got the opening page and it show 1 message. Click on that no problem, hit reply, compose, spell check and sent; no problem whatsoever.

Hit User CP, 50 seconds of the circling... list showed up and guess what his on top of the list... Hit the thread, another 30 seconds of the circling, hit spell check and amazingly no fault right away :D;):D.

I will it Submit Reply and time until its display and post the time it took on an edit version.

Display in about 3 seconds... I give up, I'm going for red wine

I get the hang every 5-6th refresh/page change/post action.

Same thing at work and at home.

stomachmonkey 08-20-2010 07:26 PM

just hung for 40+ seconds. Pelican trying to connect to csvta.target.com

slodave 08-20-2010 07:28 PM

It's hanging again for me too.

... Red wine helped.

No delay in anything in anything this morning except for me to get in gear. Damn booze :D;):D

Thanks, FWIW if the ad revenue helps offset your out of pocket cost I'm willing to deal with some slowness.

GH85Carrera 08-21-2010 10:39 AM

Wayne, Google does an amazing job of indexing the pages. On a few occasions I have googled a "fact" posted on the forum as a fact check. Many time this forum is at the top of the list. The very thing I was going to fact check is the top item. It made me laugh.

Jim Richards 08-22-2010 09:49 AM

It's still hanging up. I just had a couple of WSOD's, too. All on the 911 Tech Forum page.

pete3799 08-22-2010 10:07 AM

Hanging up here too.

Jim Richards 08-22-2010 10:09 AM

and again. WSOD. :(

Zeke 08-22-2010 10:12 AM

Very slow today.

Wayne, I wouldn't let this frustrate you in the least. I'm almost sorry I started the thread. We all appreciate Pelican Forums.

Jim Richards 08-22-2010 10:26 AM

yep. :)

+1 on the slowness, today was not a good day.

+1 on the not letting it frustrate

JJ 911SC 08-23-2010 09:58 AM

Another curve ball, this will probably not help...

Wayne

Noticing that it's slow at time since I got to work. I decided to check it via my Iphone4...

You guess it, the Iphone seem to be faster or you would not be reading this :D:confused::D

The Iphone is on Rogers 3G System in Canada.

Tonight, I'll compare the Iphone to my home computer on Rogers Internet and we'll see.

J.J.

Halm 08-23-2010 10:07 AM

The slowness has returned to me as well. As a matter of fact approximately 15 minutes ago the website simply would not come up. And I tried twice, once on IE and once on FireFox.

Same here with FF. Tried to open a page and it took over 2 minutes to do anything, then popped up just fine.

JJ 911SC 08-24-2010 04:05 AM

As seem on the other Thread

Slower at work???

and see if you can load the page. It's forums . pelicanparts . com / test . htm

If you can load that page fine, then the database may be having difficulty (that's a static page that doesn't use the database).

Also, if you can perform a tracert from your home computer and paste the results here, then that would be useful too. Keep in mind that the last hop on the tracert will not be functional, as my firewall will terminate there. If you don't know how to do a tracert, it's really easy. Go Start -> Run then type command.com. Then type: tracert forums.pelicanparts.com and it will start analyzing the path that your computer takes to reach the forums. Hopefully, it may emerge that one of the big pathways across the country is either clogged or misrouted. Again, here on COX I haven't seen any issues.

Thanks,

-Wayne

Load in .3147893245643 of a seconds (land base Internet)... of course my BBQ timer has not been calibrated for a while so others result may be different

So far so good. I've not been on the laptop much today though. The iPhone has been pretty quick.
