Ahhh it is a 243 on the AR platform...that is unusal.

With all the Goodies...your looking at a coupla grand...to under 3k.

My feeling is that if your gona do an AR platform it is best in 223 or 308..

I think of the 243 as a Bolt Action Rifle round.

Agree with Tabs. The .243 is not a very popular round so expect to reload or pay out the nose for rounds. That said, if the bike is not selling...

You'd be the only guy on yer block with a 243 AR, but pay up the wazoo for rounds....Norinco 223s are cheap.

It's an AR-10 base, not an AR-15.

You can get the base gun from DPMS for about $1200. Online Store — DPMS: AR-15 Rifles, Parts and Accessories.

So consider the price of the "extras" (don't include the mags, they're $20 ea. from Magpul). Take about 50% off (at least) and there's your value.

He doesn't mention the # of rounds through it. .243 is a fairly high velocity round and will wear out the barrel faster than good ol' .308 (which is the standard round for this platform).

He doesn't mention if the loaded ammo is HIS loads (in which case you should value them at the price of their components, and no more) or factory ammo.

The scopes are nothing to get excited about. The Bushnell 3200 Elite is "OK" but no Nightforce or USOptics.

thanks for the responses.

i personally like the .243 round, but that's me. i hear you on the cost, however.

as for value, what i hear you saying, bluesky, is that the whole gig is worth maybe $1800.... does that sound right?

$1800...hmm.

I suppose it's fair, if you're then able to flip the optics you won't be using (why is he throwing in 2 + the RDS??) and the spoon's in stellar shape with a low round count. And if you have an itch to load .243!

If the spoon is tired then I wouldn't even bother...or factor in the price of a new upper from DPMS in your offer.

if what you are saying is that $1800 is what this stuff is worth, i'll pass. i know what my ducati is worth and it is a bit more than that. i am looking in the neighborhood of $3100 for jezebel. i emailed the seller, anyway, just to see what he had to say about what he thought the gun/stuff was worth. i haven't heard back.

Smart move, IMHO. There are a lot of great deals out there on "black spoons". Dealers are still trying to blow out inventory they built up as a result of over-ordering during the 2008-2009 rush.

I guess that solves your problem.
