What Angela said.

I like the 3rd pic best. No offense, but your smile is goofy in pics 1 & 2.
Also, I'd suggest that you either wear a more formal collared shirt (& tie perhaps) if this is the pose you prefer (makes you look like an author), otherwise go for a more relaxed pose if you want the polo shirt. |
+1 to the "a bit more dressed-up" thing. Polo shirts are fine if it's a book about golf techniques.
well 1st the bunny ranch logo on the polo was a classic. better not used on INSIDE LEAF.
what you need for me to buy any book is: 1) specific topic ie. " how to make yer M-14 shoot fleas off a flies butt @1200 meters." 2) PICTURES lots of pictures with arrows and closeups. since i take 1000's of pictures of stoopid poo every month(name the subject matter, there IS NO BOUNDARIES for WIERDNESS!), i like pictures ALOT! 3) subject matter. must be pertinent to the subject period. not some 1/2 azzed opinions that dont mean crap in the real world. 4) the cover must be ACTION PACKED and make the buyer wonder how big yer huevos are. ie. a great shot would be you hanging yer azz from one of my sons WIND TURBINES 300 ft up in the air with a GREASE GUN! these wind turbines demand HEAVY LUBRICATION PERIOD! or as you can view from the classic pics............"WHEN WIND TURBINES GO BAD", what the hell happens when they are not properly maintained with lubricants. UGLY aint the word! and if yer in the nacelle or on the ground in close proximity when they GO BAD.............yer a DEAD MAN! and when someone gets dead................well its FAILURE ANALYSIS at its BEST! good luck amigo. |

I'm gonna work on this! Actually, Wayne is on to something...
Lubey, I'm surprised your publisher isn't giving you any guidance on this... why is that?
They are - they have actually allowed me to have some fun with it and to offer up any ideas - like I did with the cover design. Chances are they will come in with exactly what they want. I am way ahead of my schedule so time is not that big of a deal. I think they are letting me play so I don't keep bugging them to know when I get my proof prior to press day.
Here are a few more... Me with a product I patented acting goofy: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1282074424.jpg Me prep'n a scope: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1282074327.jpg |
The scope shot idea it not bad if you can get it level. I'm still interested in the cover art.
You call that a scope?
Bahahaha. I kid, I kid! No but really, I hope the stuff you look at under that is BIG! |
scope is good. clean up the wall behind you..put up a chalkboard with a bunch of brainiac equations and formulas..done.
I like the scope shot, too. Makes you look so..intelligent. Of course, if the reader finds your pelican threads, that's busted.. :)
remember that Sherwin-Williams "Cover the Earth" logo??
well, add oil to your head on photo #1 above congrats, Mike! |
Reshoot the microscope shot... with the hardhat on. :D
Only an engineer builds a bong that fancy.
Lubey,
The scope shot is real close to what you need. Clean up the background (as suggested above), add a little good lighting, you've got a winner. You have a terrific profile and that picture with the scope brings out an intelligent, sophisticated side. Go for it! angela |
