Which Headshot to Use for My Book's Jacket

Well it is down to cover design and headshots now. Feel free to vote, leave comments and tell me how great I am - I could use it! My ego needs filling so pay attention to me PLEASE!!!!

Seriously though, which pic do you like the best for my book jacket? (BTW - I choose that shirt because I (1) always wear polos, (2) I like green, (3) I bought it at Eangle Ranch golf course in Breckenridge CO where I shot the shyt out of that course!

BOOM headshot!

I am stuck somewhere between option 1 and option 4.

#1. Jowl sticks out, hair messy, and the look is apprehensive.
#2. Good.
#3 Deer caught in headlights.

Is that a LeMans green? The book will sell better with a pile of exhausted naked women in the background.

#2 is ok.

What is "Eagle Ranch" and why is it on your shirt, and are you sure you want it there?

I vote #2

Any chance of a Pelican Parts T-shirt in the picture? Hehe

Lubey?

You're a good looking guy that takes ****ty pictures.

Your picture needs you doing something or with something. Analyzing a product, driving a car, reaching into the engine bay of a Porsche, your arms around your children, etc.

I think you would not only look much better, you would greatly prefer that type of picture.

#2 by a long shot. The other two are not great shots as noted above.

Maybe this one? Betcha it would enhance sales...;)

Oh, but you are brave. I'm wondering how long until the Photoshopped versions start to appear... tic, tic, tic.

This is for the rear jacket of the book, not the front, right? I make a rule of never buying a book whose author's photo is on the front cover. No serious book has ever had the author's photo on the front cover. Flame away.

Forced smile - do another. Take off the Eagle Ranch shirt.

Put on a shirt with a collar and jacket. For something as important as a book - I'd look professional and astute.

In first for the photochop.

Lube, you are a good looking guy and I am in awe of you writing a book like that. I think I will buy a copy for my wife. She'll appreciate it and both of us will be able to use it after she explains it to me in small words. But those aren't the shots you want on your book. Even if it comes out of your pocket, hire a real portrait pro who will show you at your best. Don't wear a logo shirt unless it has something to do with the book. Make the head shot look as professional as the content of the book. You'll never regret it.

Number two is the best of the bunch. Look at the improvement in that picture if you crop it so that you can't see the logo of your shirt. It looks so much more professional. The logo distracts from the main subject of the photo, which is you.

They may photoshop the logo off of the shirt.
