Brett Favre...

Will Favre's interception against the Saints which helped lose the game for the Vikings and a chance to go to the Superbowl, be the last we'll see of him? Because there's been rumors going around the Browns may be talking to Favre about next season.

No mas, porfavor! No mas!

I agree with what Bill said in the Cowboys-Eagles thread... no way will he bow out now with that disgraceful play hanging around his neck.

Favre was so banged up after today's game, he's going to need SkyNet to help him make it to next season.

I know its football and a ruff game, but I think hitting a quarterback hard every chance you get, in the hopes you will hurt him enough to drop his level of play is dirty football. It doesn't take much of a hit to drop them, most of the time they go down on their own. They don't protect themselves while trying to throw, or getting blind sided after the ball is released, like the one play. The announcers even said at the beginning of the game that the Saints coach learned this from a former coach he worked under. Anyway. I just thought it was a cruel game plan.

On another note, I think all the punching at the ball to cause a fumble is cheapening the game.

I thought the objective was to protect the QB, that's the job of the offensive linemen. They just didn't expect the Saints to be so rough on them. Must have thought the Saints were a bunch of girlie men.

Favre has had a great run and is a tremendous QB but it's time to retire before he gets hit so hard he can't get up. He was hit more times in that game than he was all season, he's one tough SOB.

Did your husband enjoy the game?

The NFL, more than any other league, has adopted rules to protect the 'stars', i.e. the quarterbacks. Who is to blame when a QB tries to block a 300 lb man running at full speed? Don't want to get sacked by two 300 lb men? Throw the ball sooner. The hits he took were 'football hits', part of the game. Spelling Bee's are competitive and non-contact. And televised.

No more ball punching! Someone will break a nail.

In Canada when someone makes heretical suggestion (like the above) to reduce 'contact' and 'injuries' it is referred to as 'pansification of the game'.

Want to complain about some of the referee's calls? Okay, I can see that. But I can't agree with anything you wrote.

On Topic: BF had a very good season. Good enough to justify his return.

I laughed out loud when he threw the pick at the end and kept thinking about how "thye gunslinger" blew another NFC title game with a last-second pick.

I really can't stand him and all the worship surrounding a guy that has only won 1 SB, and who's majority of recoords has come from simply playing for so long.

I have seen him sabotage a team's chances to win a big game as often as he ahs helped a team to win.

His "all about me" attitude made watching him lose all the more pleasurable and I was happy to see him get pasted a couple times.

Generally agree with this and if anything I think it is the more manly approach.

Making an effort to diminish a players ability vs. just stopping the play shows a total lack of respect for ones fellow players. It is the weaker play. IMO.

LOL!

Most intriguing Vikings off-season issue…Will Brad Childress still be Favre’s chauffeur after this performance?

My feelings exactly. Mr. Favre is another in the long line of celebrities who can't bear the thought of being out of the public eye.

Yes the aint's were aggressive, hard hitting, and had a bullseye painted on Favre. Dirty play - hardly. The responsibility of keeping the QB safe falls on the shoulders of the O line and having open receivers. In that regard the Vikings played right into the aint's play book.

Granted the interception was what actually lost the game, but what about all the fumbles that AP had? If he would have held on to the ball the interception wouldn't have mattered at all.

We had a thread on this already.

According to ALL the people on NFL network, it was not that bad a play because he knew it was the last play of regulation, so the INT didn't hurt.

I think he should have ran the ball into field goal range. He would have gained at least the 5 yards back they lost on the penalty from the previous play.

All the analysts took a different tact.

I'm a big Favre fan. He's so fun to watch that he's the main reason I watched football when I moved to this country.

And as much as I'd like to see him back again next year, I really don't want to see him get banged around like that again. That was painful to watch.
