OT: is there no Wayne for GMCs?

Disclaimer: Limited Porsche content

When releasing the parking brake on my 1997 GMC Suburban today, the cable on the parking brake release snapped. I wonder whether that is a GM weakness? On another GM vehicle, the same thing happened and I ended up going to the dealer and forking over a usury amount for the cable.

I searched and searched but every search for "parking brake release cable" turns up hits for "parking brake cable" which is NOT what I need.

I guess I never appreciated Wayne's Porsche parts catalog as much as I do now, because for the life of me I can't find a GMC parts catalog online.

Does anyone know where to find the "official" GMC parts catalog online, or better yet, which GMC dealers sell parts online at a discount?

I already checked my FLAPS and they say this specialized assembly looks like a dealer-only part, and at least IMHO, buying GMC parts at the local dealer is about as pleasant as going to the local Porsche dealer for parts.

Any info much appreciated.

And as to Porsche content in this thread: the GMC can be pressed into service, if needed, as a tow vehicle for the Porsche.

Thanks.

FWIW, gmpartsdirect.com makes it nigh impossible to find the part based on description. I did finally locate it on a diagram on gmpartsgiant.com and got the p/n and voila, with the p/n gmpartsdirect.com also shows it.

In the meantime I MUST remember NOT to step on the parking brake pedal when I park and exit (old habit of mine).
