There is somethng called Karma, and this one will scratch her on the rear in the future. Also LE might want to have a discussion with her.

Hope they caught her and stuck her in the trash bin with several cats that had been in there for a few hours or days.

Also cannot wait until Mark (DrDogFace) sees this one... :)

Joe,
Yeah, I watched it early this AM but didn't finish the whole thread. I feel the same as most of you, of course. There's no shortage of people out there like this. There's also a mentality of some (few) animal owners who pretty much treat their animals as if they were appliances and when/if they get mildly sick and it'll cost them some amt. of $$, even a small sum, they'll just say 'put it down'. I won't and have refused several times.

Jeff Higgins 08-24-2010 06:59 AM

Good thing the cat didn't whip out a cell phone camera; the lady would have beaten the hell out of it before she threw it in the bin.

slakjaw 08-24-2010 08:51 AM

Cats deserve more respect than some PEOPLE that I know. I just cant figure out why she just didnt keep walking but whatever. She has serious issues.

Maybe a first that I agree with you.

And, she did it so calmly. As the Brits would say, she's a "nutter" or "barmy."

Looks like they know who she is.
Woman Who Put Cat In Bin In Coventry Is Identified By RSPCA And Given Police Protection | UK News | Sky News

The RSPCA launched an investigation after a grey-haired woman was captured on CCTV dumping rescue cat Lola into a large green rubbish bin.

Lola's owner Stephanie Mann, 24, said: "I can't believe the reaction to the story. I only posted it on Facebook because I wanted to see who she was.

"Whatever she has done, I don't like her, but I don't want her to get hurt."

Mrs Mann and her husband Daryll said they did not expect the reaction that occurred after they posted the footage from outside their home in the Stoke area of Coventry.

The cat, which was trapped for 15 hours, emerged unscathed but the footage posted on social networking site Facebook provoked viewer outrage.

Hundreds of people joined groups on the site, including one entitled "catch the evil b**** who put the cat in the bin", and many have posted threatening messages about the woman depicted in the CCTV.

Sky's Lisa Dowd said the woman - named by authorities as Mary Bale - was offered police protection because of the "level of vitriol against her".

"Police say they are keeping a close eye on her home because of the threats she has received," she said.

The Manns found the trapped four-year-old cat when they heard her cries on Sunday morning.

When they looked through their CCTV footage they were shocked to discover it was a middle-aged woman that had put Lola in the bin, and not drunken yobs as they suspected.

The RSPCA said it was "appalled" by Ms Bale's actions and was continuing investigations to decide whether to bring charges against her.

Police did not arrest Ms Bale because she did not committed a criminal offence.

"Locals here have been pretty disgusted," Lisa Dowd added.

"West Midlands Police are taking her safety extremely seriously."

The cat's owners urge the public to act responsibly over the woman's behaviour.

"Now that the police know who she is, I think people should leave it to them and the RSPCA and not take matters into their own hands," Mrs Mann said.

"It needs to be dealt with properly, not by people getting aggressive with her."

Here comes karma............................

BlueSkyJaunte 08-24-2010 11:54 AM

She's not a "nutter" or "barmy" or any of those things.

She knew exactly what she was doing--she knew it was wrong (notice her looking around to see if there were any witnesses), yet she did it anyway and hurried off on her business afterward.

There's a word for people like that. Evil.

KevinP73 08-24-2010 12:10 PM

This is a little like the Denver Police beating the guy walking his dog. Without the audio you really don't know all the facts!

aigel 08-24-2010 09:07 PM

Interesting that this is not a "criminal offense" according to the article. Isn't this in the UK? According to wikipedia animal cruelty is criminal in the UK.

Cruelty to animals - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am sure we will hear more about this!

I don't think it crosses the line into "cruel" territory unless the cat suffered or was injured. I know my cat could do 15 hrs. in a trash can standing on her head.

The lady sure assumed the risk that the cat gets squished on trash day. I forget how cold it is in Europe - here in CA the cat would be dead within hours of the sun up.

Agreed. And, if the cat in question was squished or died from heat-stroke, she more than likely would be charged with cruetly.

aigel 08-24-2010 09:31 PM

Ok - no criminal charges for attempted animal cruelty then!
