Was happily single 9 yrs from age 34-43......Happy times, but then I woke up and realized I needed more supervision and someone to spend my money. Now, it's just a roll-coaster ride...........I really feel for Jim....

Happy yes single..... not for me.

Was happily married for 18 years. Didn't see the affair my wife was having for six months with a 18 year old kid right under my nose!!

The very single time in my life after that was depressing for me.

Now I have a wonderful lady in my life who has just agreed to move in with me. We have her 8 year old son with us 50% of the time and I am loving it! Besides he still fits in the back set of the 911 and his favorite thing to say is " drift the corner like that again! As his mother stares me down!!!

Hope all you guys and gals are happy single, couple whatever!!

I'm back to single! I forgot how much extra time you have when your single and not wasting your time on dumb sh**. I am much more productive, both at work and home. My thought process is so much clearer even though I've had a daily hangover for the last month. I have tripled my friends and reconnected with some old ones and I meet new people everyday.

......unfortunately I was created to be single.

I was single until I was 32, when I got married for the first time. We were married for 10 years and are still friends - lives just went separate ways. Got married again at 55 and am very happy. BUT, I could be happy single too. As I told my wife not too long ago, if she weren't around, I'd just fall back into my single way of life. When I was younger and single, I always had a gf and lots of the time my gf lived with me. Now if I were single, I think I'd stay more solitary.

I was married for 20+ years and other than my kids did not get much out of it. I've had a couple great relationships since and the current one is amazing. We're engaged but the more time that goes by it may just stay that way. It's been over 2 years now. We'll wear rings, call ourselves married, but I may never make it legal. I just don't see the need. We don't want to mix up our finances and I don't ever want a messy exit. I may be wired in a weird way but if the feelings aren't reciprocated or there are too may demands that I do things "her way" I lose patience and would prefer to be by myself. We just started to live together full time. The next 6 months will be very interesting. I'm optimistic and hopeful but am keeping my house just in case.......

When I was single I was just as happy as I am now (long term relationship).

Happiness is a state of mind. If you're with someone and dissatisfied all around with the situation and relationship, chances are that's not the right person to be with. IMHO you should be able to maintain the same quality of life when with someone as you should while single. Sans the sex with different people part (unless you're swingers).

I'm much the same. I keep my life simple and have fun.

The drama free action sounds appealing but I've found once I sleep with a lady things change. I can't just be casual.
Then after some time I discover things about her that aren't so nice or her attitude sucks or she's a nag and before you know it I'm looking for an "out".

Also... Personal hygiene is a big one for me. I don't want to get too graphic about this but she has to take care of herself (everywhere).
I was surprised at how lacking some ladies were in this area when I became single.

My once wife and I once saw a therapist (once) who said that once two people fell in love and became "as one", the result is two half-people.

I only had to hear that once.

Once she was gone, it was nice.

But I did it twice.

Now I'm happier being single than being double, again. But that could change. Marriage involves a lot of compromises - not my strong suit in the past, but as I grow older I'm becoming more flexible...I think.

I'm married, but had a separation at one point....I did get a hell of alot done that is for sure. But I am still married and happy and was actually at a bar with pal last week looking around at all of the degenerates...looked over and said that I was damn pleased that wasn't single anymore.

That being said it probably wouldn't matter...I'm a total stud and getting ladies was always pretty easy for me. I could probably do with a "live close visit often" type of friend with benefits.

As long as they keep stamping out new/improved versions of these, I don't need a wife:

My father has it made. After a divorce from his 2nd wife (my mother was his 1st wife), he's been dating a nurse about 15 years younger than him (he's 73) for 3 years now. every weekend, he drives to her place and they spend the weekend together, going to concerts, restaurants, etc... Then, during the week he's back at home and she's back at work. They travel together and get along great and he's really enjoying his retirement!
