Desk Art from the Garbage

They were cleaning out an old storage closet at work - I found this gem in the bin. Rubber stamps for business are going the way of all flesh. I had to pull it. I just had to have it!

It serves no purpose other than a connection to a time gone by when typewriters, carbon paper and Rolodex where the norm. Maybe American Pickers will offer me a $1 for it someday?

Glad I'm not the only one. Packrat, that is. Like a magpie, I just can't resist shiny things.

Love it.

I still have Leica M3 I feed film into occasionally. A lot of young people seem very interested in my old camera.

Old typewriters hold much interest, too. Everything pre-solid state was so tactile . . .

Haha, I have the same phone (same color too) at home. No land line - just a bluetooth attachment so it acts like an extension to my mobile.

Clever. I have the green version, not hooked up.

double delayed post.

The bluetooth thing for the phone is cool though. If the mobile rings, the land line rings. You can dial (button or dial) from it too.

Yes, I actually worked on the Selectric, Model C, IBM Executive (proportional spacing), and MTST (Magnetic Tape Selectric Typerwriter) too! Also Time Systems, and eventually the Computer Periphials.

Those were the good old days. I had one customer that used an IBM Executive to type the master copy of his wife's children's books! I aligned type for him weekly...

On topic; I have a room full of "Desk Art" here...

Love those metal desks - I have one in my garage currently as a research station/workbench. They're indestructable and awesome in all respects - but heavy as fuch to move.

My parents may still have theirs. Someone approached my mom who worked as a secretary while going through college to see if she'd be interested in fixing Selectrics because she was pretty good at keeping the ones in her department alive. Guess it's a god thing she turned it down and kept on working on her degree because about 10 years later everyone was on computers.
