Parked right in front of the PD no less.....

Are bodyshops waiving deductibles on these types of things anymore?

I hate people.

so, what's a cork soaker? Is that analogous to butt pirate or pole smoker or what? I've never heard that one.

That really sucks about your truck. I wonder if they were drunk or on their cell phone when they did it.

Waiving deductibles on what ? Auto Theft? Even if I did understand the question the short answere is NO. Technically speaking waiving the deductible on any insurance claim is considedered fraud.

On collision repairs....illegal??? They do it every day on glass repairs, why would it be illegal?

Also the "cork soaker" phrase is from an SNL skit...searchable on youtube I imagine..."My wife....she used to soak a lotta cork, but not so much once we got married"

I don't understand it completely myself. An insurance agent tried to explain it to me once. It's a very seldom imposed technicality, kinda like cell phone laws here in L.A., nobody follows them.
If a shop chooses to overlook the deductible it comes out of their pocket and in this economy I can't see why a shop would do it. But thats just my opinion.

It's just a marketing thing like a coupon. "Come to A1 auto repair and we'll pay your deductible", it's no different than printing a $300 coupon in the press. Or like when those furniture store throw out the "and we'll pay your sales tax", we'll as we know that's not really the case, they just cut the cost to negate the tax....either way a business should have the right to market for advantage. It's not like there is a loser in there, the truck gets fixed, the insurance company pays the same, the bodyshop just lured me in with a discount.

I just checked and found several body shops in my area that offer to pay some/all of your deductible on their websites. Maybe it's a state law thing in Cali.

Nah, it's analogous to "fellatio enthusiast" (watch Len's video)

Reminds me of the original source: The character of Roman Moroni in the movie: "Johnny Dangerously"

Memorable quotes from IMDB:

"You lousy cork-soakers. You have violated my farging rights."

"Dis son-a-ma-batching country was founded so that the liberties of common patriotic citizens like me could not be taken away by a bunch of fargin iceholes... like yourselves."

"You fargin sneaky bastage. I'm gonna take your dwork. I'm gonna nail it to the wall. I'm gonna crush your bells in a meat grinder. I'm gonna cut off your arms. I'm gonna shove 'em up your icehole. Dirty son-a-ma-batches."

"Don't bullshtein me."

"You and the rest of your bastages can gamble, but don't try no fargin trick, otherwise you wind up with your bells in a sling."
