That being said, I'm sure he has enough money/lawyers to sue God.

Take it under advisement? You's a lawyer??

I have a sample of such a letter in my files

Right to publicity. It is not the photo itself, it is connecting the photo to a person's name and a specific location (esp if private property as Steve's shop is) that is the concern, as I recall. I never said it was a legit complaint from a legal standpoint, just that a complaint could potentially be lobbed.

Noted, but I'm not going to worry about it. Others have posted pics of his cars and those threads are still out there. I don't think he really cares. If he did care, he would've told the owner to keep quiet about who owns it and what it is.

If it was in view of the public, there's nothing wrong with taking pictures.

450knotOffice 09-09-2010 11:20 PM

Alright, I re-posted the photos, but this time I left out the story...

Ok. This thread has not gone in the direction I thought it would - an appreciation of a beautiful piece of rare Porsche history in essentially perfect condition, owned by a well known Porsche enthusiast. Instead, it's turned into a discussion of semantics, grammar, and the potential liability of posting pics of that car. Because of this, the pics and narrative are removed.

Too bad for the rest of you folks who may have wanted to see such a rare and beautiful car.

Bummer. It may sound weird, but I often go to Miata.net to talk about cars. They have a specific forum over there just for talking about ''Other Than Miatas''. We call it Car Talk.

Because we talk about cars. I hear Jerry could open his own museum. I wonder why he doesn't post here...

aren't all IROCs Camaros?

Thanks for the car pics, glad I got to see them last night. :)

From a 2007 post:

I was in NY yesterday delivering our spring stuff. Got back to the car at 83rd and Riverside and saw this absolutely pristine 911 behind a flatbed. Went over and took some pics. 5 minutes later a gentleman met the flatbed driver to take the car. I introduced myself and praised the car. He tells me it's No. 1, "so it's Jerry Seinfeld's then?", he says it sure is, gets in and speeds away. Wish I had a better camera, more time and 2 hours later in the day for better sun. Enjoy.

And what's a trip to NY without the requisite car burning on the Bruckner going home.

This is weird, I saw a few humorous comments, but taking the pic off? Whatever.

Oh man, that's funny! :D

Thanks for the morning laugh! Too bad I missed the pics, though I don't really see anything in this thread that would make someone take their ball and go home.

I always find it amusing and a bit perturbing that race cars with no mufflers can be driven freely on Santa Monica roads by some people without hassle. I doubt I could get away with it...

Judge I know does that occasionally with his 356, the Pernicious Pumpkin, or something like that

A few interesting things:

1) I was a little surprised to see that it only had a (substantial) roll bar - no full cage
2) It had the stock 380 mm steering wheel, not the more common Momo that one would expect. Looking at pics of other IROC RSR's, it seems that Porsche installed that wheel into all of those cars (but that's just a guess)
3) It had the correct little race buckets that were used in those days. I'm still amazed every time I see seats like those.
4) Apparently, the rear trailing arms are some super expensive, super rare steel items that Porsche used to allow more adjustment to the rear alignment. This was told to me by the shop owner.
