Cell Phone Booster

Ok - flame suit is on, but go easy on me nonetheless. My daughter uses the iPhone4 and she gets poor reception in her dorm.

SO

i-Tena - genius or gererator?

Counter-point:

From the web:

It's fake. All of those videos are fake. He keeps the screen on the keypad so you can't see that he's just sent himself a sms. When your phone receives a call or sms it boosts it's signal up. You can hear the interference from the sms. Why else did he take so long to focus onto the screen. He was looking himself then when he saw the single boost re focused the camera

Honestly think of it this way, if it was as simple as adding a special sticker to the back of your phone apple would of done it already.

Notice how he holds the phone before he applies the sticker. After, he's holding it with fingertips. In the vid for the iPhone four, he's holding it where the antenna issue is at first, causing the signal loss, then after the sticker, the phone is on the table.

These things have been around for years. I don't think they've ever worked..

I-TENA device, fake? scam? legit? real? - MacTalk Forums

The website is still poorly designed and for someone using another companies products, why are the his howto's on their site?

I don't know about the product in he video, but I was a skeptic of boosters until I was in no man's land Alabama (border near Quitman MS) a couple of weeks ago and couldn't maintain a signal of 1 bar. The technician I was with had a booster in his truck and it boosted me up to full bars just sitting in the truck. Unbelievable. I didn't ask what brand it was, but it was $200+ for it. I've considered getting one for my personal vehicle.

That was most likely a "repeater".

get her one of these:

AT&T 3G MicroCell™ - Signal Booster - Wireless from AT&T

in the 6 years i have owned my home i have never gotten a signal inside the house. about a month ago the local att store was giving these away to people who lived in known bad reception areas, and i qualified. now i have 4-5 bars in every room. the only downside i have noticed is that there is a slight (1-2) second delay when using it. other than that it has been flawless. i bet if you were to call att directly they would help you out. they offered to credit me the full price plus tax if i drove 30 mins to the next att store when my local store ran out of them during the giveaway but i opted to wait the 3 days for it to arrive at my local store.

depending on her usage they also have an add-on plan that for $20/month all calls made or received via the micro cell are free, including if you were to receive a call and leave while still talking. as long as that call is connected it would not count against your minutes.

I have boosters in my company pickups. The thing to keep in mind is that they improve a weak signal, they do NOT create cell reception where none exists.

They work OK but in dead areas, there is still no signal. They cost ~$300.
