When I was a kid, my mother would make peanut butter and bacon with miracle whip.

I haven't had one in years, but I loved them as a kid.

Raise you hands if you just went to the kitchen and made a sandwich with bacon...

Put a few slices of avocado on that bacon sandwich and taste the difference!

Am a fellow bacon addict... absolutely love it.

I grew up as a kid with Mom making fried chicken every Sunday night. Along with it she would make home-made french fries... cooked in bacon grease. She cut up the 'taters, put some (lots) of onions in and let it all cook. Was absolutely excellent and too boot deadily as can be.

She passed years later with her veins and arteries full of that wonderful bacon grease, but I can bet that she was happy!

A big no-no now but a canister of bacon grease sitting on the stove was just as natural as salt and pepper shakers back when I was growing up. Used to flavor most everything with a little bacon grease. Anyone else ever have wilted lettuce salad as part of the meal? Chop up a head of lettuce, a small onion, toss then pour a little hot bacon grease over it for salad dressing...

I've been attempting suicide by bacon for years. I haven't quite died yet but I may have another go at lunch time - thanks for the good idea.

Ah bacon, one of the perfect foods. I grew up on BLT's, plain ole BLT's with mayo. I could eat them every single day, my wife too. My Mom is coming to visit for a few days tomorrow and guess what I just got out of the freezer? What a coincidence, a couple more packs of bacon. And bacon grilled cheese. Have been eating those forever. Will have to try the mayo and pickle though.

Bacon. Mayo. Toasted Bread. Period.

Bill Douglas 09-15-2010 03:32 PM

bacon and avacado in toast, wholemeal toast of course - we are being healthy here.

+1. Used bacon grease was a natural in our house growing up, along with home made sweet tea, fried chicken/okra/etc. banana sandwiches with mayo and peanut butter...

I miss the days of eating good food...

Wow, i am amazed how delicious this sandwich was for dinner. I talked my wife into making them for dinner tonight and she made a slightly healthier version, but we will be having them again soon. She made them on a Forman grill with turkey bacon with all the rest of the ingredients remaining the same. All these flavors made an interesting and delicious flavor profile.

Thanks for introducing them to us!

Borrowed from another forum:

Handmade ground beef patties, topped with sharp cheddar cheese, wrapped in a bacon weave, then the next step, add hotdogs as the heads, legs and tail.

Place on an oven rack, covered loosely with foil and baked for 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees. A little crispy, not too crunchy...just how a turtle should be, no?

Fried egg sandwich with lots of bacon... and some Cuban hot sauce...

I've already had dinner too, but am tempted...

UconnTim97 09-15-2010 06:53 PM

I have seen chocolate covered bacon, but I haven't tried it yet.

Someday....

I have enjoyed a bacon slab appetizer once. Exquisite and artery clogging at the same time. Delicious!
