That's pretty cool, but $10k+? I guess I'm not up on what that stuff costs...

Compare it to the cost of any other track record breaking type of car!
Any one here in to the super karts mentioned ?

Not sure I'd want to be harnessed into that chassis with the rollbar structure as pictured. Typically you want to be thrown off a cart just like a motorcycle in an accident. If I'm wearing a full harness I want a cage/semi cage (think Formula Ford) with butressed rollbars behind the head and at the forward bulkhead.

Looks like fun, but someone could possibly get seriously hurt with the speed that thing will get on a full-size road course.

Why not just stick to karts?

The solid rear axle probably makes that thing understeer like crazy unless they've got a seriously rigid chassis and some properly castered front wheels...

Seems like a lot of expense for what it is. THIS is a Kart for grownups:

125cc 2 stroke, 6 speeds, ~400lbs wet, with driver and 40 hp.0-60 in about 3 seconds and easily 1.5G cornering. Ohh and for about 3-4K used.

karts

I have driven one (Kart same as you tube video above)of these at Road america and The milwaukee mile with partial inside track. Speeds over 100mph and you can take corners silly fast. Used ones run $3500 for a four stroke shifter. Very little maintenance and years before you need a rebuild.

I stopped when I watched my buddy lose it and spank the wall backwards. I was right behind him.

They grip really well but there is zero warning when she is going to let loose and when is goes you best hope for a long stretch of grass or something soft. You slide a long way.

I had so much fun that I bought a Porsche!!!!!

Actually, those look like simplified versions of your typical Formula SAE car.

Yep I run an ICC shifter kart. Geared as it is now for Autocross it has stupid acceleration. and cornering is beyond description.
I've seen the super karts run at NPR. I lap at around a 1:23 and this crazy things lap @ 1:15. One of these days I will talk my way into a seat of one of those.

Byron- did you buy that at Hershey last year? I think I saw that there, and remember seeing a serious crotch-killer steering wheel strut in that go cart. Be careful!

This was mine a few years ago trying out a helmet cam. Track was stupid rough and w/ all the head shaking didn't make for a good video. Hauls azz even w/ 265# in the driver's seat.

No, and my knees won't bend enough for my crotch to hit the strut...

I raced 125 shifter karts on big tracks for several years. My opinion is a 125 is as fast as anyone should go in a kart. The guys running 250's seemed a bit off to me, not to mention there only seemed to be a few guys in the 250 group who could actually drive the kart to its full potential. At the speeds a 250 can go, I think you need a body around you. Granted this kart has a harness and roll bar but it still seems a bit unsafe.

Hello Guys.

Just wanna share my 1st experience in Karting. They got electric karts with 20hp that can kick 40mph. Really amazing using a small vehicle to race. I did it here (Go Kart Phoenix) which I think is a good start for a beginner. Its indoor and they got good facilities.
