My wife and I helped catch a bad guy tonight
We stopped at a yogurt shop on our way home after dinner. While sitting outside my wife notice a guy check a couple of doors on businesses that were closed, then swing out into the parking lot and peek into a few parked cars. He passed us and went around the corner toward a grocery store. I decided to see where he was headed.
I watched him criss-cross the parking lot checking out various vehicles, then suddenly I couldn't see him. As I walked closer to the store I saw the front door of a red Blazer was open. The guy was inside kneeling on the driver's seat reaching across toward the glove box. At this point I called 911. After checking out the front he climbed in the back seat, leaning over, looking in the floor, then looking behind him in the cargo compartment. Must have been something good back there as he got out and opened the tailgate. He wasn't in there long before he went back to the back seat. And that was about all the time it took for the first police cruiser to arrive. I wish I'd had my camera handy... as the cop pulled up behind the Blazer, he turned on his spot light and there was the guy all lit up with a laptop type case in his hands! He was frisked, cuffed and in the back of the cruiser with no resistance. We gave our statements and were on our way home a few minutes later. I thought it was interesting that this guy set off my wife's "gut" alarm and I didn't even see him until she pointed him out. On the other hand, she said she never really thought about checking him out any further after he was out of sight. So, it took both of us, but there's one less bad guy on the streets.

Nice. Was this in `Tukee? My bro goes on shift right about now, so I can ask him to pull the incident report.

Good eye. Wish more people would do this. Glad the cops came in time.
There are a couple more perps out there right now that deserve catching but cannot comment further on this. More as things open up... Joe A

Good job!
I saw a guy break into a car one time. After he got in, he was laying on his back with his legs hanging out the door, head under the dash. I slammed the door on his legs as hard as I could. Some lady looks out the window and wants to know what I am doing to her car. Told her to "call the cops before the thief could limp away." Probably crawl away, doubt if he would have been walking any time soon.

Well done! I used to think "where is a cop when you need one?". Then I rode along on an evening shift with one on a Friday night, where we went from call to call to call one thing after the next...

Nope, another case here locally in Phoenix. A case that happened a week ago yet has been under a news blackout here. Cannot say anymore about it until something happens. As far as our resident Pelican Parts thief that you asked about, he is still dragging his feet in court, playing legal games. The DA has asked for a new and final trial date and that is the week of 12th of October. Joe A

Good job.
I saw a day laborer in painter's whites out in the home store parking lot moving amongst cars. At one point he helped a lady load some stuff in her car. From that point, I started observing him from just inside the store's glass doors. I think he caught on and was gone from sight. I went back out to find him but I think he got in a car and fled. I hope he got in his car. Anyway, there's more. While I was standing at the doors, I asked an employee if they had parking lot security. He told me no and asked why. At that point I felt like being a smart ass, but simply told him what I had seen. It was then that I lost track of the guy in the rows of cars. I don't think you look for a job by looking in the windows of parked cars. After I bought my stuff (not much, I was in and out), I went looking for the guy on the other side just to see if I was wrong. I don't think so. Stay alert. |
