Pretty cool. A little freaky but honestly the thing that was making me the most queasy was how the camera kept whipping around. In the steadier shots, it really wasn't all that bad.

My biggest concerns would be if sudden winds came up (I imagine they check weather before doing these repairs and don't go up if there's any chance of bad weather or winds over X speed), and if one of those little handholds was weak or corroded at the point it attaches to the main structure. How would you know until you put your weight on it? They're up there for months and months and years just rotting away at the weld points... That thought is the one that would scare me a little. I suppose with enough experience you learn to notice and be in tune to any such hazards as you climb though.

Even so I think I'd wear at least an emergency parachute if I ever had to do that. Those guys got either huge brass ones or no brains, or some combination.

My daughter showed me this a couple days ago. WOW! You would really have to love your job to do that. I think I would be dizzy just getting off at the 1600' elevator drop off point.

I can't climb more than 4-5 steps up an extension ladder and won't stay in a hotel room higher than the 10th floor. Those guys are unbelievable.

Seems wearing a chute and then base jumping when they're done would be the easiest way down.

Fat guys need not apply!

I can't believe OSHA rules allow free climbing. It would not be hard at all to tie the two guys together and have one guy tied up at a time, while the other climbs.

I could do this no problem. Would I want to? HELL NO!

I hate heights! I can't stand it when I have to work with dad and ride the bucket truck to 70'. I've been dabbling in rock climbing lately. I'm fine going up, but once I hit the top.... Let me down NOW!

looks pretty sane to me, heck this guy had a safety line.

Not saying that I have not done crazy climbs myself, but Dan Osman, without a doubt was the craziest solo climber of all time, check out this video, the last scene while he is bungie jumping I believe off El Cap is where he met his fate, the rope snapped and he fell thousands of feet.

YouTube - Dan Osman - craziest ****ing rock climber in the world! (No ropes!)
