How hard to make street legal? Are there Honda signals and horns and switches that bolt right on? Will most DMV's register them, or do you even need to?

yup, i had one too. was my second bike between the 50 minitrail and the xr100.

Never thought it was anything to brag about tho. It was pretty bulletproof. i remember that we sold it to some family friends. we visited them 3 years later and my friends younger sister told me that that day (3 yrs later) was the first time she shifted it into 2nd... dad also had a ct90 that my bro and i would borrow when our 100s were broken. 8 speeds and still slow...

I still have the 50 and will be giving it to my 3 month old son in about 4 years.

The 70s came with lights and were taggable....

The CT 70 weighs 150 lb vs my Vespa 230 lb. So it would be easier to carry on a hitch mount with the Westy. Handy to zip from campground to store without pulling up stakes. Thread is giving me ideas. Gotta look on CL. Of course a bicycle weighs 25 lb but then how would I get nice and fat?

HONDA CT70

The early versions didn't have blinkers.

she called me. she still has it, and told me i have dibs. she said it was a Ct70, but i will go and get a visual and snap a photo of it.

gotta get out of work today, so i can so and suss it out. looks like a fun, relatively cheap project.

Buy it!

Had several of these in my life IIRC my cousins in Kansas had one I used to drive when my family vacationed there... then I have foggy memories of someone giving me one that didn't run.... I dinked around with it, got it running and had some fun with it. Then being young and dumb I sold/traded it. :(

ok..damn. the CT 70 is gone. this is the one that is remaining. what is it?

i want to make a school commuter for the wife..

BUY IT! I was re-living childhood memories and bought 4 of them in boxes for $1000. I put them all together and ended up selling three of them for close to $1000 and one for $300 (it was REALLY rough). I regret keeping one for myself... :(

Oh... the mighty Honda stepthru!

From the looks of the side plate a 55cc? A friends family had a 100cc that was very fun to ride.

Not sure is 55cc is enough to get an adult around town.

YMMV

scottmandue 09-25-2010 04:29 PM

From the cord coming out the back it might be one of the extremely rare Honda electric bikes!

I should also add that IN MICHIGAN it didn't qualify for a scooter so with the proper add ons it was considered a motorcycle. So I elected to pick up a TW200 which is more comfy and user friendly for running around when camping. I sold that too.... :( But I'm looking at getting another one here soon....

About $1-2K will get you into an actual scooter, a Vespa (60s-80s), Stella (Vespa clone, a few years old), Bajaj (Vespa-looking but fourstroke). In decent running condition already and 150cc. Unless there is some great collector interest in that stepthrough, I wouldn't be too keen myself.
