Inception...the movie. Anybody seen it yet?

After a gruelling day, as i'm wont to do, I decided to catch a movie to get my mind off of crazy clients. Went to see Inception not really knowing what it was about.

Very unusual film...at first I thought too long and that the writer and/or director had access to some very serious drugs at some point in their life. But it has occuppied my thoughts as I play it back in my head...ironic given the subject matter of the movie.

Very suspenseful, phenomenal special effects, thought provoking especially for a sci-fi genre.

The basic premise of entering someone else's dream is easy enough to grasp. It gets a bit more complicated when multiple people enter each other's dreams and you're trying to figure out whose dream you're watching and whose subconcious is adding details to the dream. And it gets so convuluted that you begin to question what is reality and what is the dream.

And then there's the subplot about DiCaprio and his wife becoming so absorbed with conducting their relationship in their dreams to escape their more mundane waking life. In essence wife becomes addicted to living in their dream world and Dicaprio wants to live in the real world with her. Whew!!!! Exhausting at times.

somewhat reminiscent of Dreamscape with Dennis Quaid IIRC.

Perhaps...with a bit of Christopher Walken/Natalie Wood's "Brainstorm" from the 80's....

It is a very convoluted movie IMO. However, maybe that was the intent as my son went back the next night to see it again and I was thinking of doing the same just to make sure I understood it.

I'd heard that it was really good from several sources, more substance than just the FX.

My wife & I saw it & really enjoyed it. I saw on a TV commentary about the film they rented a blimp hangar & built the set for the weightless (not really weightless but tumbling) hotel hallway scene inside with an apparatus to roll it as they shot. Good effects.

Hmmmm....that's funny. I've always thought he'd be a great pick to portray you if the 'snipe biopic ever goes into production.

Take her to it...there's enough gun play/car crashing to keep you entertained

Natasha Zacharenko died (drowned while drinking) 2 years before "Brainstorm" came out. They had to work with what they had on film.

Good movie, really good actress.

Yeah...its that kind of movie (and probably a great marketing tool). Makes you want to go back and see what you may have missed.

Heading this way any time soon?

I've despised that freaky little man-boy DiCraprio for as long as I can remember.

I wish they'd stop putting him in movies that I would otherwise consider seeing....

Funny you should ask. I'm at my parents in Lake Lure, NC and depending on a certain brunette in Arkansas my route will either take me north for some unspeakable fun in an inexpensive hotel room or south to buy you a beer..
I'll know tomorrow afternoon and will let you know...

Just went and saw it.

Easily one of my favorites now. Intense movie at times, brilliant plot, brilliant subplot, great acting, great score. There were parts where the twisting and turning happening on the screen felt like it was happening in my mind.

I don't know why people don't like DiCaprio. The Aviator, Blood Diamond, Shutter Island... then this... his last few movies, he's been great. Go watch Blood Diamond if you think he's not a good actor. I dare anyone to claim that isn't an amazing performance.
