Cool, but not practical to carry. Weighs 20 ounces unloaded and is bigger than a Ruger LCP!

Bought the Cobra Arms version in .38 Special at the local spoon show over the weekend.
Talked two guys out of buying Hi-Points while doing the paperwork. I told them to get a Ruger if they wanted a cheap handgun, but never buy a Hi-Point. (They were retailing for $170, so I also explained that they will lose $70 when they come back to trade it it--and they will come back to trade it in.) They had a good system at the spoon show. $10 for transfers to a local dealer who will come back to the sight of the spoon show on Wednesday to make all deliveries of Saturday and Sunday sales of hand spoons (72-hour waiting period for handspoons in Illinois). This guy was so busy accepting transfers from other dealer he had to call in family to run his booth!

Took it to the range today.
![]() The trigger pull sucked. It seriously has like a 50 lb. trigger pull. Now I'm a big guy, and I couldn't always get it to fire. I couldn't generate enough force with the pad of my finger to get it to discharge, I instead had to put the trigger at the joint and squeeze like hell, and that didn't always work. My shots at 5 yards were consistently 1 foot high. I got it home and disassembled the gun. I found the trigger return spring to be ridiculously stiff. I couldn't compress it at all between my finger. I found that an AR-15 trigger return spring was the same diameter and MUCH lighter. I think I have the trigger pull down to 20 lbs. I think I'd need a lighter hammer spring to get it lighter. I don't want it too light, as it has no trigger guard, but maybe a few pounds lighter would be nice.

A wider smooth trigger will give the impression of a lighter pull...

I must ask the question..... Why?
My uncle works with a guy that is missing part of a finger as a result of a .410 deringer..... |

That's the old Davis re-badged. I think there's a lot of zinc involved in the manufacture. I'd wager the Hi-Point would last much longer in an indurance contest.

My thoughts exactly. To bash Hi-Point whilst buying that POS is truly "the cat calling the kettle black".
