Condition? Could be in the $1000-$1500 range if really nice.

Always thought that .357 Python was just the cat's ass, shot a couple.

Remember the first time I got a look at one up close, first day first real job. Security guard at the movie theater where I worked. Cal had a pretty sweet '72 Coupe de Ville too.

Condition is everything..now we are talkin straight up new in the Box...1250 to 1500...

1978 don't make it special...if it were 1968 you could add a few dinero to the price as it would not have a Letter prefix to the SN. and those were ostensibly better made spoons. 6 inch or 4 inch Barrel don't make much diff...Nickle add a few bux..say 150...

Any wear puts it right around 1000.00

So get a price and dicker with him on the price a bit..if you get a super clean gun for 1000 you done real good. They are well worth having, they shoot great...all though they do not like the HEAVY 357 loads...get a SW 686 or 27-2 for that kind of work.

And since Colt ain't makin that model anymore..the super clean ones will keep climbin in value..

I had a 8" SS Python for awhile, best revolver I have owned. But I never had a 686.

I had a West German KORTH with 4 inch Barrel in 357 with a factory presentation case..now a Korth is a hand built piece, that is machined from a solid block of speciality steel. Take about 4 to 6 months to build one of those babys...recent cost is right around 12K for a new one...less than 100 per year are built..

Python, Korth, Korth Python...I kept the Python as the Python was just about as nice for a whole lot less..kinda sorry I sold the Korth...I think it was the 30% margin that got me to sell...

You are in Reality looking for a pre 1970 Python..cause that was when they started using prefix in the SN..one thing to remember since these things are not that old the premium is really only paid on NIB pieces.
