What's in Chinese food that stinks up the refrigerator?
Got some take out last night. Just typical stuff, shrimp fried rice, beef and brocolli, General Tsao's chicken and pan fried noodles with shrimp. The fridge has a two-week old box of baking soda, doesn't seem to help though. Every time we buy CF this happens. By the way, we leave the stuff in the take out boxes.

baking soda doesnt do schit.
it is a scam. i have one too, a box in my fridge. been there for years. logic tells me my fridge should get progressively more stinky as the box gets loaded..but it doesnt..so i dont think it works. chinese food stinks. korean food is downright rancid..gone bad.

dunno...you should get some chinese food and see. The 'merikun food you bought is probably smelling funny due to somewhat old ingredients (likely the shrimp).

I think it has more to do with the containers than the food - Pizza with some good toppings will stink up a fridg as well. The box just doesn't contain the odor.
Simpler foods like pasta and cooked meat just don't have the various spices. Try some good tupperware instead of the while take-out boxes.
