Check on parts availability (like spare mags) and customized parts availability.
Other than that, I have not heard anything bad about them.

Tanfoglio are great guns, they are distributed in the US by European American Armory Corp (EAA, EAAcorp.com - European American Armory Inc. - Homepage)
Tanfoglio's are 'based' in the Brno CZ, Tanfoglios are used extensively in Europe in competitions. You can't go wrong with any model, parts are readily available. My favorite is the Witness Elite Gold Team. I did some of the design modifications for the Witness model for Massimo Tanfoglio many years ago.

a friend had one, and i was quite impressed with their finish. (self lubricating Wonder finish, hardening 12 microns thick)
his is a full size with the 9mm and .41 cal, and he does a lot of hunting. The interchangeability on the frame is a neat option! From what i see on the website, interchangeability is across board in both full and compact size weapons.

Had one a while back, great guns. Is it the TA-90 you are looking at, or the new Witness series?
If Witness, get it in 45, then get conversion kits for 9 and 22 (and 40 and 10 and 38 super) for about $225 each

it is a ta 90, but may consider the witness line in the future from what i am learning

The one I had was a TA-90. Very accurate, 100% reliable. Same mags as teh Springfield P9 and IMI Jerico.
