*sniff* that new OS smell...

Just upgraded to Maverick Meerkat aka Ubuntu 10.10

That makes 7 upgrades this "install" has gone thru - started w/ 7.04 on this box.

For you windows users, this is like doing "upgrades" on a win95 box all the way thru win7

I just loaded it on a Dell Dimension 4700 this evening for testing. So far, so good...

I saw the upgrade was ready to download and install. I figure I will do it this weekend.

I hope they fixed a few of the bugs. I can't get any flash video to play full screen. If I try flash just pops an error and the video goes away.

I've been running the release version on this laptop since the day before release. Prior, I had been running the betas and RCs. The upgrade from RC2 to the release version went well and was pretty quick. The only thing I really needed to tweak were some of the power management options for this laptop. Other than that, it was painless.

I am able to run Flash full screen on this laptop. It hasn't been an issue for me with any of the Maverick RCs.

I have a Dell Mini 10 notbook. It uses a video chip from Intel that has a known bug. When I tried to do a fresh install on 10.04 I could not even get the full resolution of the display. I just need to spend a day on the Ubuntu forums to figure it out.

I will try to do a fresh install of 10.10 and see if it works better.

I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 on a Dell PC with I've set up in my garage. It's a dual core Intel CPU with 4GB of RAM and 1TB hard drive with an ATI video card. So far, so good!!

Haven't upgraded to 10.1 but I am thinking about it. I loaded 9.(whatever) on the HP laptop when I reclaimed it from the wife. Never looked back. Why anybody would not consider Linux is beyond me.

Well, ordered parts for a new box today... (will have details in other thread). Thanks Mom!

asus mobo, intel i5 cpu, 8gb ddr3 ram, nvidia pcix2 w/ 512mb ram, new case/power supply, and a new dvd drive. I've got a bunch of 120gb sata drives that I'm gonna set up in software raid 5.

Big question is to just move over existing install thats been upgraded so many times or just copy over my /home into a fresh install...
