My buddies shop got robbed last night.
This stuff has been going on around here for the last 2 years. They come in the night, and it appears as if they are really only looking for inspection/ emissions stickers. They stole all of his stickers, and about $100.00 cash that was left in the drawer. Bent the hell out of a steel man door, but that is about it. Hit a couple of other local businesses that same night.
The State Police stopped in my place last summer to warn me about the thefts, and said it may be wise to take my stickers home at night. I did not, but I think I will start. They are not terribly expensive, but I guess that once they are all gone, it makes for a whole bunch of paperwork to get back on track again. My dad and mom live on the property of the shop and dad has orders to fuch anybody up that is on the property after dark. They also have a retarded dog that barks when the wind blows, so they will be quickly alerted if anyone is poking around at night. Man, I hate thieves, My life's accumulations are at the shop , so I take security there real personal.

It was happening down here last year too. They would push the garage doors open. Alot of shops started parking right up against the doors to stop it.

My brother kept having break-ins at his repair shop and they would steal the batteries and steal every can of soda and motor oil. He finally got two German Sheppards that he kept on the property. At night he let them in the building. He never had another robbery.

Just be happy you live in a place where you can shoot them instead of sitting in a Stop N Shop across the street watching while they take away your livelihood.

Why would they steal inspection stickers? Are the emission stations not networked with the state or is there a physical inspection that has to be done as well?

I'm in Pittsburgh (Plum Boro) and own a business in Blawnox. You need a monitored alarm system, not terribly expensive in the scheme of things. It forces the criminals to get in and out before the police show up if they are not deterred by the alarm siren. May also get a discount on insurance.

We do have annual state safety and emissions inspections . "Hot stickers can easily be sold for $100.00 a crack. I am a small shop, and I order stickers 200 at a time. Do the math, that is a pretty nice score for the burglars.
I do have an alarm system, I will be arming it daily. I brought my stickers home tonight, and I guess I will continue to do so. The way my place is laid out, it is not super vulnerable to be broken into, but it has happened once before. The thing that most worries me is if they get frisky and go after vehicles . I have two 930's, 4 911's , a 944 turbo, and a couple of other nice rides there right now, and I would be sick to my stomach if they got damaged/stolen.
