Time for an I Phone

I usually have no problem bringing my Mac Book on road trips/business trips. While staying in Solvang, CA I could never get a connection in my room, i had to use the antiquated pc in the lobby, what a piece of crap!

I'm getting busy with work and need reliable service.

I've used my daughters I phone and love it.
My question is 8, 16 ore 32 gig?

Hugh R 10-20-2010 04:14 PM

16 does video which is handy in my business. If you get a 3G, the battery life is an issue, but at the ATT store that sell a battery case that is slick that goes over the phone. If 4G, antenna issue but battery is apparently not a problem.

gprsh924 10-20-2010 04:34 PM

Get a case and antenna is absolutely no issue on the 4.

Get the 16gb 4 and be done with it.

My wife just got me the 16gb 4 First phone I ever had, no problems with the antenna, seems like almost every place I go I get a wifi connection anyhow. Still learning all the crap it does but its pretty cool! Take it flying with me, get all the charts and weather on the fly!

In LA the AT&T coverage is pretty damned lame.

I have a 16GB 4 and had a 16GB 3GS - both great phones. I used to not care too much about battery life but this week I've killed it 4 times. But we're talking hours long phone calls.

I'm depending a bit too much on it I think, I need to get my office phone working (home office)...

I have the 32GB 4G. It's one of the best things I've bought in recent memory. I honestly don't know how I got by without it.

I am still awfully fearful of dropping it in a puddle, down a sidewalk grate or having the screen get smashed/scratched though. I've got a pretty good shell on it most of the time for protection and don't "whip it out" near water or grates as a precaution.

As a tool, they're incredible and enable a lot of productivity - and fun.

Don't like the styling/look of most of the Androids. They do have cool features though.

Supposedly there is a 64GB version of the 4G coming out pretty soon, but nobody knows when (marketing driven, I'm sure).

Get as much memory/capacity as you can - always. That's the rule I follow with these things. I have a staggering amount of content on my phone and I've barely used 10GB of space, but it's nice to know it won't be a limitation anytime soon.

I love mine. The only thing I miss from my Blackberry Bold is the keyboard, everything else is superior on the iPhone 4.

Did you see where Apple just released the beta versions of Face-time for the Mac? Now you can video chat from any iPhone to the new iPod and now any Mac running osx Snow Lep. it uses email addresses or phone numbers to connect - simply amazing!

Apple - FaceTime for Mac

There is a case for the iPhone that has a fold out keyboard. I forget the name but some searching should turn it up.

Porsche-O-Phile 10-20-2010 11:16 PM

That looks neat.

The keyboard looks a little chincy though, but for $69 I'd be willing to take a shot on it.

My 4g is a nice toy, but it's a pain in the behind. Reception is so bad I have to take it outside my building and stand on the sidewalk to use it. I had no such reception problem with my Razr. OTOH, it's got a lot of features ( I've spend way too much time playing Angry Birds on it). It does about everything but make phone calls.

If you can wait until 1Q, Verizon should have the iPhone then.

ThinkGeek :: TK-421 iPhone Case with Flip-Out Keyboard

Another keyboard case. The one Wayne linked looks better.

Your Mac doesn't work well enough, so you're going to go out and buy another Apple product?

Now I see why AAPL is at $310.

azasadny 10-21-2010 03:32 PM

Reliability? If reliability is important to you, don't get AT&T's 3G (going, going, gone) service. My wife and I are both extremely disappointed with the 3G service, not the iPhone itself...

gtc 10-21-2010 03:46 PM

I have been tethering my droid to my work desktop, and the speeds I am getting are comparable to what I get through our crappy lan.
The major bonus is that I bypass our stupid firewall/content filter.

azasadny 10-21-2010 05:06 PM

Yep! I agree 100%
