HHI Concours 2010

Well, it's all over and once again, I volunteered for half the time and enjoyed the other half. The honored marques was Chevrolet this year, but I don't have many chevy pics, they just don't do IT for me
At one point while getting all of the car clubs to their designated areas, there were nearly a dozen 360's in a row and the sound was insane, I thought windshields were going to start shattering.
There were also a lot of 356's this year and probably as many E-types as there were Chevys.
Took a few test drives from the demo teams. The 475hp new XJ is not only incredibly nicely appointed on the interior and packed full of awesome gadgetry, it's a beast and handles quite nicely for a LWB. I'm pretty much in love with the car and in a few years when they're steady on the used market, I'll probably pick one up.
I also took the 'all new, redesigned' Cayenne S out. The interior is a lot like the Panamera, but after the XJ, the Cayenne felt a little bland and underpowered.
BMW......well, the X5 diesel certainly gets great mileage, but the interior was just disappointing. It felt very cheap and the diesel felt surprisingly anemic for a modern German diesel.
And the pics
(This was a freebie with the Porsche test drive)

This wasn't actually a part of the Concours, but it was in the VIP parking lot and got my attention

AND, it's for sale if any one is interested....

more pics to come

Very nice, thanks for sharing. The new XJ is a stunner, I'm glad to hear it drives as well as it looks. As a former XJR owner I have a special place in my heart for that line.

Yeah, the new XJs are quite impressive. At first, I wished they'd had the 510hp version, but the 475 certainly didn't leaving me wanting for much.

I was thinking about going down for this... heard one of the organizers being interviewed on local radio in early summer... maybe next year. Thanks for posting the photos.

Wow... that Chellette or Shellette is a new one on me... never knew about them. I was thinking, "That looks like a glorified golf cart."

Then I Googled it and found out that's about what it is.
Tamerlane's Thoughts: Fiat Shellette Beach Car

Is that your steering wheel in the photo of your LR? It's RHD? If so, that must be fun on the traffic circle and going past the guard kiosks into the plantations... heh heh.

It's definitely worth the trip. There was an old couple that drove down from NY in an unrestored, well-maintained, single owner XK120 last year!
The Fiat is certainly different and the wicker dash is a bizarre touch. There were something 80 of them made total. I can't see ever dropping the ~50k they command to buy one, but if one dropped into my driveway, I wouldn't sell it..
Yup, the Rover is RHD, traffic circles aren't really a problem, but going into plantations, other than mine, is a bit of a pain.
