Educamte me, Motorhome versus tag along trailer

OK.....I gots a 3/4 Yukon with just under 100K miles and 4 wheel steering.

Looking to buy either a cheap....schitz, they be giving them away....trailer or motorhome.

Advantages of the motorhome, I can tow my P-car/Harley or Seadoos.

Advantages of the Yuk, I can dump the trailer and cruise around.

Dis of MH, MPG, parking while shopping and cruising the bars.

Dis of Yuk, can't tow extra toys w/o a Toyhauler which are bare bones luxurywise....

Anything I b missing?

Nope, you can't have both. I tow a trailer and park it and have the SUV to move around which is great if you want a vehicle to go get beer. You could get a MH and a trailer for the harley and seadoos and try and pick up chicks at the bar with the Hog. Pick one.

Let's see, you could get a MH and a trailer for the toys. When you're parked, grab the Harlem Davis for quick and easy stops.

If you are traveling with a wife and/or animals I would go with Motorhome 100%. If it's just you, the trailer thing would be much cheaper. Be carefule buying one of the bk brands, no warranty, etc.

It's usually pretty hard to sell a Class C motorhome. Most people are upside-down on them. Travel trailers are very convenient and have much lower maintenance costs. Whatever you decide, spend a little more and get one with slide(s). You'll thank me later.
Here's the ultimate solution...but you'll need a BIG truck.

I have a trailmanor, its very cool how it opens up in about five minutes. Here is the corporate website Travel Trailers That Are Lightweight and Easy to Tow|Trailmanor Travel Trailers and here is a youtube video on how it sets up. YouTube - TrailManor Trailer Set Up

central air and heat, shower, toilet, sink, oven, stove very well thought out.

What kind of buying budget are you looking at? That may answer your question right there. Dependable travel trailers can be had for very little money, but a reliable/clean MH will cost significantly more. You can find them cheaper, but they ultimately nickel/dime in the long run.

I've never had a motorhome, but I wonder. Suppose you're in Bumville, Nowhere and break down. Is it going to be easier getting service, towing, and parts for a Ford/Chevy/Dodge truck, or a [name the brand] motorhome?

The other thing is, unless youre a snowbird, what the thing will do most of the time is sit in storage. Park a trailer and come back 6 months later, no problem. Not sure about stuff with an engine, battery, coolant, etc.

A friend travels the country to make a living in a trailer, as do all of her coworkers.

It *really* sucks when a mechanical problem happens and you have to leave your house w/ someone else. On that basis alone, almost all of the hard core travelers use trailers as opposed to motor homes.

I will say it, Cummins, seems that would be ideal for one of those.

To OP, I would say trailer all the way, especially if solo, consider weight of trailer/gear with the tow vehicle in mind. My Father-in-Law has a fifth wheel with the double slide out, got it for deer season because his wife would not sleep on the ground. He would take his tractor out there to pull it from the road to where the camp was. Towed it with a mid 90's Chevy 3/4 ton with a 350. Always griped about power in the mountains. He has one of those newer one with the Izuzu diesel V-8, not griping about power anymore.

Check out a Wanderlodge. Most of the other stuff is put together with glue and staples. Wanderlodge is built to last and on a bus frame.
I have a 33 foot Jayco and its not built any better than the other stuff out there. Trailers that are kept outside uncovered do not last long before problems develop.

I would like to have a 30' plus toyhauler someday.

Towing with my F350 diesel is great.

My current set-up is great, other than the fact that the car has to come out to camp.

Another way to go depending on how much room you need and still have the ability to tow toys is a truck camper.

A non 5th wheel toyhauler will handle the car and bike, place to sleep and you can run around with the truck, too.

I'd like one of these someday, too.
