New Laptop ne4ed help
In the early part of the week I bought a new laptop. Nothing special just a Toshiba Satellite L675D running Windows 7. This system is for home use and to take on vacation so I have Internet access. I am an idiot when it comes to computers and the Internet and don't open or change programs I am not formillar with. I was able to successfully get the computer to connect to my wireless net work with out burning my house down
, I do know to look in programs for what is pre-installed. This computer didn't come with much, but for the life of me I can not locate an email program. Doesn't Windows 7 have outlook or something similar?![]() I have saved Outlook from my desk top computer to an external hard drive so I could load onto this computer and transfer my address book. but when I try an error comes up saying "the specified path does not exist check the path and try again." |

Are you saying that you copied Outlook to an external drive, and now want to install it from that drive? To install office you will need the source, you can't just copy the program from one machine to another, it has to be re-installed.
After you re-install it you can then import your PST's or OST's whichever you use. Oh and congrats on not burning your house down.

Scott R- Yes I copied Outlook to a hard drive. Seagate is the manufacturer. I figured there would be a newer version of Outlook with windows 7 or that would recognize the program I guess not. I have documents saved as well that will not open same error message. But i do not have those programs installed yet so I understand that they will not open until the program is installed.
So you are saying I need to install the Outlook program? I dint ever remember having to do that in the past. thought it was just part of windows. Thanks for the kind words about not burning my house down, its quite a relief. Of course I dint have email on this thing yet so I'm not out of the woods yet. Jesset100- my email comes from comcast. Know I can go to comcast and open it but I have always used Outlook. I dint know that I am saying this correctly but i guess Outlook in puts the information? |

Some stripped down laptops don't offer "Office" which is seperate from the operating system and contains Outlook.
Look in your box for the program discs. You may have to load it IF it's there or purchase it seperately. If you have another computer that has an Office program, you might try to load that.... |

I suggest you download and install a web browser called Opera, it has an excellent e-mail client integrated in it.

You need to use the "import/export " option on the "file" menu. Then "import from another file" and finally "Personal Address Book" This is also how you import your mail back into Outlook.
