Big radar dishes near Mulholland & Decker?

Went for a drive this morning in the Santa Monica mountains and spotted big radar dishes off of Mulholland near Decker. Never noticed them before - maybe because I usually come up from PCH rather than go down towards PCH. Anyway, does anybody know what these are? They're huge and it seems like an odd spot because they're a lower altitude than some of the surrounding mountains. They're clearly visible on Google maps satellite view.

I saw those from the air the other day and pretty much made the same comment.

How else do you expect the mothership to get HDTV?

They've been there forever, or so it seems to me anyway. When we fly the Sadde 6 arrival into LAX form VTU, we always come right over the top of them. I can spot them from miles away. I always wondered what they were for. Satellite tracking maybe?

Well, I did some research, and it seems those three dishes make up the "Triunfo Pass Earth Station", owned by AT&T. They are used for incoming and outgoing telephone and HDTV signals to and from satellites, mostly out to the Pacific rim it seems.

It reminds me of "repeater stations". Picks up a weak signal from one directions and sends the stronger amplified signal back out.

Told you so!

owned by AT&T and out to the pacific rim hee hee... you earthling are so gullible!

The Galactic federation pays a pretty penny to have our HDTV beamed up to Pluto!
